Is digested in the liver to produce mainly glucose
(~50%), and minor amounts of glycogen (>17%), lactate
(~25%) and a small amount of fatty acids. Glucose
travels through the bloodstream to all organs and
muscles, where it is transformed into energy. Lactate
and fatty acids are also energy
sources for the body.
