Dear president I'm writing this letter to you because I think Dorothy heights deserve a holiday if you don't know
who Dorothy heights is well, Dorothy Irene Height was an African American civil rights and women's rights
activist. She focused on the issues of African American women, including unemployment, illiteracy, and
voter awareness. Who I think should definitely should get a holiday honoring her but you may also have
some questions like what inspired her, why she deserves a holiday, and what social work did she do for
everyone. Well, I'm here to answer all those questions.

what inspired Dorothy heights to act the way she did well according to women history During a chance
encounter with African American leader Mary McLeod Bethune, Height was inspired to begin working with
the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). Through the NCNW, Height focused on ending the lynching
of African Americans and restructuring the criminal justice system. If you don’t know who Mary Mcleod
Bethune is well, she was a passionate educator and presidential advisor. Who became one of the earliest
black female activists that helped lay the foundation to the modern civil rights movement.

The reason I think Dorothy heights deserves a holiday is because she was person who fought for something
that benefitted everyone. Dorothy heights was one of the most powerful women in the long civil right struggle,
Dorothy heights began her effort civil rights activist at the age of twenty-five when she joined the National
Council of Negro Women. Throughout her life she fought for equal rights for African Americans' and women.
And she was also the third black person who fought for equal rights. according to AAUW. The social work
Dorothy heights was developing leadership programs for African Americans women interracial education
programs according to social workers.org. She served as the National President of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
for 11 years.
