2.0 Wind Load Computation

The design wind loads are assessed as per UBC 1997
"Exposure B"
As per UBC 1997
Design Pressure (P) = Ce x Cq x qs x Iw
Where: Ce = Combined height, exposure and gust factor coefficient as given Table 16 - G
Cq = Pressure coefficient for the structure or portion of the Structure
Iw = Importance factor as set forth in Table 16 - K
qs = Wind stagnation pressure at standard height of standard height of 33 ft (10,000 mm)
as set forth in Table 16 - F.

Design Wind Loads ( 0 to 26.00 m )

Basic Wind Speed, (V) = 45 m/sec or 160.00 km/hr

Ce = 1.06 (Table 16 - G - Using Interpolate method)
Cq = ± 1.2 inwards & outwards (Table 16 - H)
Iw = 1.0 (Table 16 - K)
qs = 25.6 psf (Table 16 - F), for basic wind speed of 100 mph.

Design Pressure (P) = Ce x Cq x qs x Iw

= 1.06 x 1.2 x 25.6 x 1.0
= 32.56 psf x 0.048
or = 1.56 kN/m²

Therefore, design wind load = 1563.03 N/m² or 1.563 K.pa
