PCA-Human Resource Frame Worksheet


Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the human resource frame
2. Apply the human resource frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

My role is an external consultant. Paypal is looking to improve the Diversity, Inclusion,

Equity & Belonging department. The company is looking for innovative ideas that

would lead them to the future.

Paypal believes that “Embracing the diverse backgrounds, abilities, and perspectives

that make up PayPal makes us better.” The company has achieved 100% in pay equality

in the U.S. and would like to explore other opportunities to continue to champion

inclusion. Paypal is currently supporting Veteran Jobs Mission, AfroTech, Lesbians Who

Tech Summit, and Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement. Paypal is looking for other

opportunities to partner with the community.

2) Describe how the human resources of the organization influenced the situation.

Paypal is a company that already prioritizes human resources, diversity, inclusion, and

equality as key elements of its business strategy and culture. The company values having

a diverse and inclusive workspace. Paypal fosters creativity, innovation, and better

decision-making. Paypal has already implemented programs that are aimed at promoting

diversity and inclusion such as diverse hiring practices, employee resource groups (a

platform that allows employees to network and support each other), and diversity and

inclusion training.

Overall, Paypal is committed to human resources, diversity, inclusion, and equality help

to create a workplace where all employees feel valued and respected.

3) Recommend how you would use the human resources for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

My recommendation would be to look at the human needs. Although this can be

influenced by the surrounding and environments of each department the focus should be

on the elements that allow people to survive and grow. “Managers and organizations that

focus only on money will miss other opportunities to motivate. (Bolman & Deal, 2021)”

My reccomendations are just a few ways human resources can increase diversityand

inclusion. These recommendations can be tailored to best suit the needs and goals of the

organization. 1) The implementation of unconscious bias training, 2) Encourage

recruiters to use new sources of diverse talent searches and to use inclusive job posting,

and 3) Offer flexible work arrangements.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

The human resource frame focuses on what people and organizations do to and for one

another (Bolman & Deal, 2021). Given what I have learned about this frame, I would

encourage Paypal to continue to focus on the organization and the people. We find that

with this frame, there are better ways to manage people. The overall goal is to build and

maintain talent.

To do this, I would encourage Paypal to hire the right people by being selective, investing

in their employees' learning, and promoting diversity.
