Review on a TV nature programme

Purpose
The purpose of this review is to analyze and by doing that, I hope I win a camera

Content of the programme

To begin with, the day before this one, I saw TV nature programme entitled “Wild Africa” that
was focused exclusively in elephants. This was a very interesting programme as it shows the
viewer every little detail about the biggest mammal on earth. Furthermore, it explains that
elephants are an endangered species owing mainly to the undiscriminated killing of them.

Locations where it was filmed

Secondly, as obvious as it sounds, “Wild Africa” was filmed in different locations in Africa
that went from South Africa to Somalia and Senegal. This programme was perfectly filmed in
spite of the difficulties of the African Savana and the poachers.

Conclusion
In my opinion, this is a great TV show due to its visual and audio content. Therefore I
reccommend it to people of all ages as it is very educational and interesting.

Examiner comments
This answer gives clear information about the content of the programme and the locations where it was
filmed. The student explains clearly why the programme is interesting, and why they would recommend it
to people of all ages.

The article is well organised in clear paragraphs. The student has used sub-headings for clarity, though
they are not essential when writing a review.

There is a good range of structures and vocabulary. The reader would be informed and entertained.

This is an example of a good article at this level.

Wild Life
I am really into documentaries and TV programmes about nature and enviroimental topics,
but my favorite so far is “Wild Life”, it is very complete in content and the quality of the
images is grate.

This show is a must if you are very likely to watch documentaries about wild life. It shows
how animals do to survive to other animals. There is a group of people following the animals
with a camera so they tell you the situation and make it look like you are right there. In each
episode the location changes but it is mostly in Africa or the Antartic continent.

However, in my opinion it is not the best show for young children. Some of the content they
show in the programme includes the death or violent scenes. Maybe when the kids are older
it is okay for them to watch it so they can get informed about how real world is.

In my opinion, this is a great show to be informed about wild life but you can watch it if you
are older than ten years old.

Examiner comments
This answer is organised into paragraphs, with a clear introduction and conclusion.

However, although it gives some information about the content and locations of the programme, it does
not provide much detail about either . The reader would feel the article is not informative enough. The
writer explains clearly why the programme is not for young children but does not say specifically people of
which age would enjoy it.

There is a good range of structures and vocabulary, such as This show is a must and . However, there are a
few errors in the writing, such as how animals do.

This is an example of a satisfactory article at this level.

‘Big Blue’ Review!

Last week, I watched the new TV nature programme about the rejection of plastic waste in
the ocean. This documentary explains the life under the sea and shows different animals
in their natural state. For example, we can see dolphins are hunting small fishes, tuna and
turtles are swimming, whales with their babies… or albatros birds with their partner. This
movie shows also the disasters due to the plastic pollution on the sea. It is a really good
TV nature documentary, the subject explained good. The speaker is a man with a quiet and
captivating voice. The image are beautiful. We have the impression to be in the sea in few
moment because we hear the dolphin’s sound for example. The colours of the image are
intensive. The image are also very explicit. I think everybody can see this program. It allows
to raise awareness all generations (from elders people to children) It is a really good TV nature
programme to see in family on Sunday afternoon.

Examiner comments
This answer is very difficult to follow because it is one long paragraph. There is no attempt at
organisation at all.

The student explains the content of the programme in some detail, but fails to mention the locations
where it was filmed.

They use some interesting vocabulary but there are errors which may cause confusion , such as impression
to be, in few moment, elders people and explained good.

This is an example of an article that could have been much better if the writer had organised the content
into clear paragraphs.

This is an example of an unsatisfactory article at this level.
