1 . G EN E R AL
1.1. LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURES (LVP)
1.1.1. GENERAL
LVP shall apply when the minimum meteorological conditions are as follows:
- RVR less than 550m; or
- General VIS in the maneuvering area less than 800m, if RVR is unavailable.
Tower shall inform pilots of the application of LVP.
1.1.2. GROUND MOVEMENT
In those cases where the RVR is less than 550m (or the visibility is less than
800m in the event of failure of all transmissometers), only one ACFT will be
cleared for taxiing in the Movement Area at a time.
Pilots shall proceed to verify the ACFT position at all times, checking that taxi-
ing is being executed under total safety conditions.
- Arrivals: ACFT that have landed shall report:
- RWY vacated; and
- Exit TWY authorized.
At the apron entry, ACFT must wait for the arrival of a Follow-me
vehicle in order to be guided to the assigned stand.
ACFT which need to vacate the RWY when the RVR is less than
185m shall hold once they have vacated the RWY and completely
reached the parallel TWY, and shall await the arrival of the Fol-
low-me vehicle which will guide them to their stand on the apron.
- Departures: To establish the best transit sequence, pilots must not request
clearance for engine start-up, push-back or taxiing, when the mete-
orological visibility is below their operational minima.
When the RVR is less than 185m it will be mandatory for ACFT to
taxi with the guidance of a Follow-me vehicle from their stands on
the apron and on the TWY up to the RWY holding position in
service.

1.1.3. COMMUNICATION FAILURE AND ANOMALOUS SITUATIONS IN


MANEUVERING AREA
1.1.3.1. COMMUNICATION FAILURE
Whenever an ACFT operating in the maneuvering area experiences a communica-
tion failure, it shall proceed as follows:
Arrivals:
If the ACFT has just landed, maintain position once the RWY has been vacated
completely and await the arrival of a Follow-me vehicle for the guidance to the
designated stand.
If the ACFT has a taxi clearance, it must continue on the assigned route, if any,
to the limit of the ATC clearance, taking extreme caution where it must hold
position and await the arrival of a Follow-me vehicle for guidance to the desig-
nated stand.
Departing ACFT:
The ACFT must continue on the assigned route to ATC clearance limit taking
extreme caution where it must hold position and await the arrival of a Follow-me
vehicle for guidance to the designated stand.

1.1.3.2. ANOMALOUS SITUATIONS
If a pilot is in doubt about the position of the ACFT relative to the maneuvering
area, the pilot shall stop the ACFT immediately and notify ATC of this situation
(including the last known position).
In situations where the pilot is in doubt about the position of the ACFT relative
to the maneuvering area, but recognizes that the ACFT is on a RWY, the pilot
shall immediately notify to ATC (including the last known position), vacate the
RWY if able to locate an appropriate TWY nearby as soon as possible, unless oth-
erwise instructed by ATC, and then stop the ACFT. If the pilot is unable to locate
an exit TWY, ATC shall be notified immediately.
In case of a loss of visual contact between one ACFT and another, or with a vehi-
cle with its own separation, ATC shall be notified immediately and the ACFT
shall stop.

1.2. TAXI PROCEDURES


Entry/exit maneuvers to/from ACFT stands shall be performed using engine pow-
ers similar to idle. If power needs to be significantly increased, pilots shall
contact ATC in order for the maneuver to be monitored by a marshaller.

1.3. PARKING INFORMATION


Stands 1 and 30 thru 33 available for helicopters only.

1.4. OTHER INFORMATION


1.4.1. GENERAL
It is mandatory to use a ground handling agent for all operations, including non-
commercial ones, except for ACFT based at the airport and those stopovers where
the occupants do not have to leave the ACFT.
The preceding exception does not apply if the flight origin or destination is a
Non-Schengen APT.
For arrival operations, passengers and crew must await the arrival of their
ground handling agent.
For departure operations, the ground handling agent must be contacted for trans-
port to the ACFT.
In the case of GA and BA, the name of the handling agent hired will be noted in
item 18 of the FPL under the RMK/ indicator.
Birds in vicinity of APT.
1.4.2. ACFT CODE LETTER 4E OPERATION
Mandatory is a previous request by the airline or handling agent and an explicit
clearance from the APT Operations Center for operation of ACFT code letter 4E at
the APT.
Stand 20 is available for ACFT code letter 4E.
TWY S4 and T3 do not comply with TWY strip width requirement for ACFT code
letter 4E recommendations.

2 . AR R I V AL
2.1. RWY OPERATIONS
2.1.1. GENERAL
- ACFT code letter 4D landing on RWY 25 must vacate the RWY via TWY S1.
- ACFT code letter 4C and 4D vacating RWY via TWY S3 must access directly to
apron via gate D.
- Take-offs from the intersection are permitted exclusively for ACFT code
letter B or lower.
2.1.2. ACFT CODE LETTER 4E OPERATION
Vacate RWY via TWY S1 or S4 (depending of RWY in use), then via parallel TWY T
until gate B to access the apron. Wait for Follow-me vehicle to be guided to the
stand.

2.2. OTHER INFORMATION


2.2.1. OPERATIONS OUTSIDE AERODROME OPERATING HOURS
ACFT on approach with special authorization must communicate their arrival to
ALMERIA Approach to ensure that RWY is put into good conditions before operat-
ing it.

2.3. CONTINUOUS DESCENT INFORMATION


Depending on traffic situation and if no need for interrupting the descent is fore-
seen, ACFT will be cleared to proceed to a STAR, or to an intermediate fix of the
STAR, to the IAF, to an intermediate approach fix or to the IF, at the minimum
altitude of the IAF or the IF of the instrument approach procedure, or the mini-
mum ATC surveillance altitude of the sectors through which the direct route
passes, whichever is the higher, in order to allow a continuous descent operation.

3. D E P A R T U R E
3.1. START-UP, PUSH-BACK AND TAXI PROCEDURES
3.1.1. ACFT CODE LETTER 4E OPERATION
Departure from apron via gate B, taxiing via TWY T up to TWY S1 or S4 (depending
on RWY in use).
During LVP, departures from RWY 25, Follow-me vehicle shall guide the ACFT up
to THR.
