Operation Manual
1.1 Description
GSB series optical receiver is standard 3RU upstream optical receiver designed for
HFC and FTTH application. RF bandwidth: 5~200MHz.
GSB series optical receiver adopts embedded microcontroller processing circuit to
monitor and control the state and remote communication of all the parameters. It can check
and configure the parameter information by accessing optical platform front panel LCD or
connecting NE8004SIIET device management module.
1.2 Feature

■Each input channel has separate AGC and MGC control mode
■MGC adjust range: 31dB
■AGC control range: -8~+2dBm, output level 100dBµV
■Under AGC mode, OMI setting is -4dB to 0dB adjustable, the output level could be adjusted.
■Hot-Swap, not affect the normal work of the other modules and module
■Excellent cooling channel design
■Short circuit protection
■Aluminum die casting shell
■The front panel level test port can switch through the key, test the RF output of each
channel

3. Precautions
The Manual provides for safety standards in product design, manufacture and use. If
violate these safety precautions, it may cause damage to the equipment, and KT Company
does not undertake any responsibility
Warning: Do not make the module work beyond its maximum rated working conditions. It
will lead to poor product performance and reduce module service life, even dangerous.
Warning: Do not attempt to alter or modify any part of the module which will not allow you
to get warranty service. Please return the product to KT for repair
Warning: This module working temperature is 0 to 50 º C (32 to 122 º F).
Warning: This module storage temperature is -40 to +70 º C (-40 to +158 º F) , relative
humidity is 85% (non-condensing), and away from sources of ignition and corrosive
substances.
1) Check pin-socket module pin type connector on the rear panel, prior to installation to
ensureand make sure that no pins are bent.
2) Insert the module in the rack along the guide slot.Alignment slot, along the guide slot
to put module into the slot of the rack.
3) Tight the screws on the front panel.
Note: The module is powered, LED lights will flash for about 2 seconds, indicating that
the module is self-test.
4) If you need to install other another module, repeat steps 1 to 3.
5) Using optical power meter to measure RF level that will be input to module, to ensure
the access RF level r is within the predetermined range
Warning: input optical signal should avoid prolonged than +2 dBm, too high input signal
will damage the laser.
6) Using suitable cable to connect to the corresponding RF IN output port on rear panel.
7) Verify that the optical fiber port and module connector are matched. Before
installation, ensure that the end face of the optical fiber and module connections is
clean.
NOTE: When using the wrong connector head, it will damage the fiber end faces and
reduce the performance of the module.
9) Connect the optical fiber to optical fiber connecter on front panel
10) Power meter measure whether the output optical power is within specifications
11) Connected to NE8004SIIET RJ45 interface via Ethernet cable, check and set various
parameters by software to ensure the accurate device parameters.

1 ) When the module is properly inserted in the slot, press the platform "↓" key to lit LCD,
press "↑" or "↓" key to enter the slot selection menu to choose Select function module slot
items "SLOT SELECT", press OK to confirm; Then press"↑" or "↓" key, you can choose the
slot that the module inserted, and press OK to access the module information menu.
Upstream optical receiver module menu includes 17 primary menus, the user can use "↑" or
"↓" key to cycle through each menu, menu users can easily check the various important
parameters associated with the module. AGC / MGC menu, OMI menu, Slot reset menu,
The operation is as follows: press "↑" or "↓" key to select to AGC or MGC (small display box
is checked to live the choice of AGC / MGC), press "OK" to complete the AGC or MGC
option. MGC mode user can decrease or increase the excitation level by "↑" or "↓" key.
Under MGC mode, Laser excitation level will change according to the input level change,
and the system level will change accordingly. Therefore, the user is recommended to use
AGC mode, the MGC mode is only used for a special case.
3)OMI menu settings; This menu is used to output level adjustment under AGC working
mode. The factory default OMI is 0dB, you can fine-tune the output according to system
requirements, adjust range -4~0dB.
The operation is as follows: when the menu is displayed, press the "OK" button, when cursor
flashes on the display level to enter modify state; continue to press the "˅" or "˅" key to
decrease or increase the output optical power; Press OK to confirm settings completed.
4)Slot reset menu setting: the menu is used for module reset restart, the parameter will not
be changed after the reset. The operation is as follows: when the menu is displayed, press
the "OK" button, enter the reset confirmation menu, press the "OK" button to restore
automatically returned to reset menu after the restart completed.
5)Factory reset menu: This menu is used to restore module parameters, set the parameters
to the factory setting parameter module when reset is complete. Mainly used when system
parameter can not continue normal use after the users debug parameters.
The operation is as follows: when the menu is displayed, press the "OK" button to enter the
restore factory settings confirmation menu, then press the "˂ ˃" to reset module. It will restore
to factory settings after restart.
