Well A and Well B are under consideration for waterflooding to improve its oil recovery. The
reservoir characteristics and results of core analysis are shown in Table Q2 (a) and Table Q2 (b)
respectively. Determine with reason the best well to conduct water flooding based on vertical sweep
efficiency (Ev) using Dykstra-Parsons method. The Dykstra-Parsons constants are shown in Table
Q2 (c).

A sandstone oil reservoir is under consideration for waterflooding to improve its oil recovery using
either Well X or Well Y. The reservoir characteristics and the laboratory water cut results are shown
in Table Q3 (a) and Table Q3 (b) respectively. Determine with reason the best well to conduct water
flooding based on areal sweep efficiency (EA) before breakthrough.
[30 marks]
4.
Gas H and Gas K from adjacent fields are available to be injected to create multiple contact
miscibility (MCM) in a two phase region for an EOR process. Determine with reason the suitability
of available gases to create a multiple contact condensing gas drive miscibility (MCM) based on
Table Q4 (a) and Table Q4 (b) by using Ternary diagram.
