SOME FAULT

LINES IN THE
PHILIPPINES
SOUTHERN MINDORO
FAULT

Southern Mindanao Fault. This Mindanao

fault runs through the Celebes Sea as well as
the Moro Gulf. Luckily enough, if you’re from
the city, the Southern Mindanao Fault
wouldn’t be anywhere touching you with its
dangers. However, the whole Southern
Mindanao is at risk when the fault line
moves.
WEST ILOCOS FAULT
SYSTEM

The Philippine wrench fault system in the

Ilocos Foothills, northwestern Luzon,
Philippines - NASA/ADS Luzon is part of the
Taiwan-Luzon-Mindoro mobile belt which
marks the plate boundary between the
Eurasian and Philippine Sea plates.
PHILIPPINE FAULT

The Philippine Fault System is a major inter-

related system of geological faults
throughout the whole of the Philippine
Archipelago, primarily caused by tectonic
forces compressing the Philippines into
what geophysicists call the Philippine
Mobile Belt. Some notable Philippine faults
include the Guinayangan, Masbate and Leyte
faults.
DAGUMA FAULT

The Daguma-Cotabato Fault is the most

prominent feature because it represents the
structural trend along which most of the
neotectonic activity occurs. The normal
offset is in the order of 1500 m in the central
part (65'N, 1240'E). The fault affects
sediments which postdate the suture
between the eastern and western Mindanao
terranes.
