1. (U) Situation. In the past 120 hours, Olvanan Forces have attacked west, seizing the
town of Darby as they proceed with their advance towards Columbus. Olvanan Forces
are attempting to seize the Zhi-Lin oil pipeline that runs through Columbus. Olvanan
forces have emplaced a Yitian SHORAD system firing TY90 missiles in the town of
Darby to prevent US Forces from gaining air superiority. The enemy believes that a
coalition force led by USF will move from the Columbus APOD Southwest towards
Darby and believe the attack will come from an SBCT. The enemy thinks an attack
would proceed on mounted/paved high-speed avenues of approach, with improved dirt
roads only used as a last resort.

2. The 743rd ABN BTG currently occupies Darby with one Airborne Infantry BDET forward
in the disruption zone, one Airborne Infantry BDET to the east securing LOCs, and one
Airborne Infantry BDETdedicated to its defense. Subsequently, the enemy chose to
defend IVO on the improved/hard surface roads approaching Darby from the west. The
IRF, 199th BDE, deployed to the Fort Benning/Columbus area via the Columbus airport
within the past 18 hours to prevent Olvanan forces from continuing their attack to the
northwest. The 199th IN BDE's task is to seize key terrain to pass 1st BDE, 25th ID
(who is currently in the Columbus APOD conducting RSOI) through the zone to facilitate
the destruction of Olvanan Forces at Darby.

a. (U) Area of Interest. Our area of operations (AO Leader) is influenced by the
enemy's presence in the south. The enemy has no CAS or rotary wing assets. The
enemy will likely commit reserves (1x Platoon), located to the south of our AO
(OBJ Cow) once US Forces breach the wire obstacles on OBJ Bull. Their reserve
Platoon can 1
reinforce OBJ Bull by foot within 60 minutes. The enemy has a Yitian ADA system
on OBJ Darby with a range of 6 km.

b. (U) Area of Operations.

(1) (U) Terrain.

(a) (U) Obstacles.

1. (U) Natural. Dense woods and rolling hills will prevent mounted movement
throughout most of the AO, except for high-speed AoAs. These woods are forested on the
high ground and thickly vegetated on the low ground. The terrain is restrictive for
dismounted movement and will likely limit movement to 3 km/h during the day and 1 km/h
during hours of limited visibility. Units may move in column/wedge but will likely determine
a file formation is required during hours of limited visibility. Numerous creeks and
tributaries running north/south will further restrict mounted and dismounted movement.

2. (U) Manmade. The enemy has been in position for roughly 120 hours and
is emplacing protective obstacles around OBJ. ISR confirmed that the enemy is
emplacing triple-strand concertina wire on the southern portion of Key Terrain 1, IVO
PL Alabama. The enemy had ample time to construct primary and alternate battle
positions with overhead cover.

(b) (U) Avenues of Approach Friendly AOA 1 and AOA 2 (RTE SIMPSON)
are mounted avenues of approach. They can support a mounted platoon in a staggered
column at 50 km/h. AA 3 is a dismounted avenue of approach and allows for limited
cover and concealment but can support a dismounted platoon in wedge at a rate of
3km/h. AOA 3 provides enhanced cover and concealment with limited terrain that will
change the Enemy's movement formations; AOA 4 is a mounted avenue of approach. It
can support a mounted platoon in a staggered column at 50 km/h. AOA 5 is an infill
route from the northeast. It provides cover and concealment until approx. 500 meters
from KT 1. AOA 5 will support a dismounted platoon in column, squads in wedge at
3km/h.

(c) (U) Key Terrain. KT1: Bush Hill, located at VIC 16S GA 161 831, is the
dominating piece of terrain in the AO and provides overwhelming fields of fire in all
directions to whichever combatant controls it. KT 2, VIC 16S GA 157 838 provides us
fields of fire onto KT1.

(d) (U) Observation and Fields of Fire. Dense woods will limit observation and
fields of fire to approximately 150-200m throughout the AO during daylight and to within
50m during hours of limited visibility, even with NVGs. On the OBJ, the open area IVO
KT 2 provides observation/fields of fire up to 800m.
2
(e) (U) Cover and Concealment. Dense woods provide cover from 5.56mm to
7.62mm throughout the AO. Thick underbrush and rolling terrain will provide concealment
for personnel on a knee or prone throughout the AO. The wood line is likely to provide
cover/concealment within approximately 300m of the OBJ. There is, however, minimal
cover and concealment IVO the OBJ. The area is generally open with small vegetation
that will not provide concealment.

(2) (U) Weather.

(a) (U) Light Data.

Date BMNT EENT MR MS Illum

08JUL 0550 2100 1900 0400 94%
09JUL 0551 2058 1858 0358 98%
10JUL 0552 2057 1857 0357 99%
11JUL 0553 2056 1856 0356 99%

1. (U) Effects. This operation will be conducted during both hours of visibility
and limited visibility. Significant illumination will occur during hours between MR and MS.

(b) (U) Weather Data. Daily high temperatures will be near 100 degrees, with
a low temperature near 75 degrees. Humidity will be approximately 95%. Dew and fog will
be visible in low areas during early morning hours until approximately 0700 daily. Winds
will be 3-5 knots from the NE. There has been no precipitation in the last 72 hours, and
none is expected during the operation.

1. (U) Effects. We can expect the enemy to have limited patrols beyond direct fire and
logistical support due to the high temperature. High humidity will reduce the
effectiveness of obscuration and increasing CL I consumption. Fog during early morning
hours, however, may negatively impact target acquisition. Due to the lack of recent
precipitation, we can expect streams and creek beds to have a minimal impact on
dismounted movement. However, the dry ground and foliage may compromise our
movement if we do not enforce noise discipline.

(c) (U) Enemy Forces. Following the successful seizure of Darby, enemy forces
have been observed consolidating IVO KT 1, by A Troop 5/15th CAV, in preparation for a
counterattack by U.S. forces. The 743 ABN BTG has established Platoon sized
defensive positions in the disruption zone to disrupt USF.

(1) Disposition (2 levels up). 1 Airborne Infantry BDET is tasked with securing
the town of Darby in the Frontier Defense Zone to allow the 743rd BTG to consolidate
gains in South Torbia as they prepare to advance north towards Columbus. They have
oriented 1st and 2nd Airborne Infantry CDET in simple battle positions along high-speed
avenues of approach. 3rd Airborne Infantry CDET is tasked with establishing a blocking
position IOT prevent massing against the BDET DO.

3
(2) (U) Disposition (1 level up). The three enemy platoons are in defensive
positions on OBJ Bull, OBJ Cow, and OBJ Ant. The enemy mortars are templated 1 km
east of OBJ Bull. The enemy platoon on OBJ Cow, SO1, is tasked to block USF to
prevent U.S. forces from massing combat power against the CDET D.O. on OBJ Bull.
The D.O., the enemy platoon our company is fighting, is located on OBJ Bull, tasked
with disrupting USF CATK IOT; allow the 743rd BTG to consolidate gains and prepare
for an offensive operation. The enemy platoon on OBJ Ant, SO2, is tasked to fix USF
IOT prevent massing against the CDET DO. The reserve consists of 1 platoon of three
squads and has the following planning priorities:
1) Reinforce OBJ Bull.
2) Reinforce OBJ Cow.
3) Reinforce OBJ Ant.

(3) (U) Composition. Our battalion is facing the 1/1/743 Airborne Infantry CDET.
This Airborne Infantry CO CDETis comprised of three infantry platoons (24
PAX), a HQ section (10 PAX), and a Co mortar section (2 x tubes 82mm, 10
PAX).

(4) (4) (U) Strength. The OPA Platoon on OBJ Bull is currently assessed at 93%
strength.
(5) (U) Capabilities by War Fighting Function.

(a) (U) Intelligence. Early warning for the OPA forces on OBJ Bull is
provided by enemy ISR using the ASN-15 hand-thrown drone.

(b) (U) Movement/Maneuver. The enemy defensive position is an airborne

platoon that is operating dismounted in positions around OBJ Bull. Every soldier in
the platoon has night vision capabilities equivalent to our own. squad battle positions
can consolidate combat power and reinforce adjacent positions within 45 minutes of
the first contact.
(c) (U) Fires. The enemy platoon will have direct support from a section of
PP-87 82mm mortars located IVO OBJ Bull. These mortars will attempt to disrupt U.S.
formations beyond their battle positions. Their mortar crews are well trained in the
establishment of mortar firing points and call for fire missions. They can receive a call for
fire missions directly from forward observers and adjust fire effectively.

(d) Protection. The enemy platoon has been in position for 3 days. They have
established stage 4 fighting positions IVO OBJ Steer, oriented West on RTE Vibe. The
enemy on OBJ Steer is expected to have wired obstacles along RTE Vibe. The enemy
on OBJ Bovine is expected to have stage 3 fighting positions and emplaced triple strand
c-wire south of OBJ Bovine, IVO PL Alabama. The enemy has ADA assets, a Yitian with
a range of 6k, located at Darby.

(e) Sustainment. The enemy is well supplied from Olvanan lines of

communication extending across the interior of Olvana. The platoon resupply points
4
have large stockpiles of 82mm mortars, and they received a resupply of arms and
ammunition within the past 36 hours. There are no observed generators at the platoon
battle positions.

(f) Mission Command- The enemy CDET commander is expected to

be operating IVO OBJ Ant. They are equipped with version TBR-120A radios. The
Airborne Infantry CO commander has consistent communications with his Platoon
defensive positions. Squad BPs can communicate via hand and arm signals or
TBR-120A radios with the platoon CP located at OBJ Bull.

(5) (U) Enemy Most Likely Course of Action (MLCOA).

(a)Enemy Course of Action (COA) Statement. The purpose of the enemy’s operation
is to allow OPA forces to consolidate for future operations. They will accomplish this by
conducting an area defense. Decisive to this operation is the destruction of two USF IFVs
along RTE Vibe. This is decisive because it will delay the U.S. force’s advance and allow
enemy forces to mass combat power on OBJ Bull.

DO (1st SQD) – Task: Disrupt USF IOT allow OPA to consolidate for future

SO1 (3rd SQD) - Task: Block IOT prevent massing on the DO

SO2 (2nd SQD) Task: Fix US Forces IOT prevent massing against the DO

The purpose of mortars is to prevent effective direct fires from USF on DO. Anti-armor is to
destroy USF to prevent the massing of forces on OBJ Bull. At the endstate 2x Stryker’s and 1x
US Platoon destroyed, US forces have withdrawn to the west, OBJ Bull is retained, and the
enemy continues to build combat power in preparation for their advance on Columbus.

(b) Enemy Scheme of Maneuver*. Enemy will observe USF Stryker’s with an
LPOP located to the north. When USF Stryker’s crosses PL Pink, EN will call an 82mm
mortar mission from the MFP located to the east of OBJ Bull. The mortars will disrupt USF as
they enter KZ 1. When USF has reached the mined wire obstacle across RTE Vibe, the Type
73 will fire 3 rounds at the third vehicle in the formation. The Type 73 firing is the trigger for
the QJY-88s from the 3rd squad to engage dismounts and soft- shell vehicles between TRPs
1-2. The QJY-88s engaging is the trigger for the 1st squad to engage between TRP 1-2 with
PF-89s from their battle position. After USF is neutralized in the kill zone, 1st squad will begin
clearing east to west across KZ1. Any enemy that retrogrades
to the west is the trigger for ZZ02. If mounted USF approach from the south, 2nd squad
will fire between TRPs 5-6 with their QLG-10s/QJY-88s IOT allow FOM for 3rd squad to
reposition. If USF dismount and approach from the south, 2nd squad will fire ZZ03 and
destroy USF in KZ2 between TRPs 3-4.

Civil/Terrain: MSRs remain trafficable for SBCT

5. (U) BN Concept (See Friendly Disposition 1 Up):

The purpose of the BNs operation is to allow the passage of 1-25 SBCT
towards Darby. Decisive to this operation is the seizure of OBJ Bull, vicinity GA163 828.
This is decisive because it will allow us to mass combat power along RTE Vibe. We will
accomplish this by conducting a penetration. E/2-11 (DO) attacks to seize OBJ Bull, in order
to pass the 1st BDE, 25th ID to Darby. F/ 2-11 (SO1) Fixes’ OBJ Ant IOT prevent ENY from
massing against the BN DO. G/ 2-11(SO2) fixes vicinity of OBJ Cow to prevent ENY from
massing against BN DO from the south. The purpose of fire support is to suppress enemy
ADA systems, suppress enemy forces, provide obscuration of enemy to support assaults,
and to neutralize the enemy reinforcing battle positions. At end state, we will destroy the
enemy IVO OBJ Bull, Ant, and Cow,seize key terrain, and clear MSRs for the SBCT.

2. (U) Mission. E/2-11 IN attacks to seize OBJ Bull NLT 090700JULXX IOT
allow passage of 1-25 SBCT toward Darby.

3. (U) Execution.

a. (U) Commander’s Intent.

(1) (U) Expanded Purpose. Defeat Olvanan Forces in North Torbia and
restore the international boundary.

7
(2) (U) Key Tasks.
1. Secure Key Terrain.
2. Conduct coordinated seizure of OBJ Bull
3. Control RTE Vibe through AO Leader

(3) (U) End State.

Enemy: Destroyed IVO OBJ Bull
Friendly: Occupy a hasty defense prepared for follow-on operations.
Civil/Terrain: RTE Vibe cleared of all obstacles, prepared to pass
SBCT

1. (U) Concept of Operations. The purpose of this operation is to pass the 1-25
SBCT toward Darby. We will accomplish this by conducting a penetration.
Decisive to this operation is establishing a foothold on OBJ Steer. This is
decisive because it will allow E Company to mass combat power on OBJ Bull.
1st PLT (SO3) will follow and assume and BPT seize OBJ Longhorn IOT allow
the DO to maintain tempo throughout the operation. 2nd PLT (DO) seizes OBJ
Steer IOT pass 1-25 SBCT through the zone to facilitate the seizure of Darby.
3rd PLT (SO1) seizes OBJ Bovine IOT allow the DO FOM to their OBJ. The
purpose of MTRs is to allow the DO FOM onto OBJ Steer. We are accepting risk
by crossing an LDA within enemy MELs. We will mitigate this risk by crossing
during hours of limited visibility and suppressing the objective with direct and
indirect fires. At the end state, enemy forces are destroyed on OBJ Bull, we have
occupied a hasty defense preparing for follow-on operations, and RTE Vibe is
cleared of all obstacles.

(4) (U) This operation will occur in four phases.

(a) (U) Phase I: Planning and Preparation. Begins with the receipt of
this OPORD and ends when the Company SPs from TAA NATE. Critical to
this phase is executing a company CAR and platoon rehearsals and
PCCs/PCIs.

(b) (U) Phase II: Movement. Begins when the Company SPs via
truck movement from TAA NATE IVO 16S GA 022 896 and ends when the
company is staged in the ORP. Critical to this phase is the mounted
movement, the tactical dismount, and the dismounted movement to the
ORP

(c) (U) Phase IIIa Suppression of OBJ Bull. Begins when the
company leaves the ORP and ends when ASLT POS Henry is occupied.
Key tasks are IDF on OBJ Bull, the establishment of SBF 1, and crossing
PL Elysium.

(d) (U) Phase IIIb Seizure of OBJ Bovine: Begins with the
establishment of ASLT POS Henry and ends with establishing SBF 2. Critical
8
to this phase is the breaching of obstacles IVO PL Alabama and the
coordination between 3rd PLT and 2/D.

(e) (U) Phase IIIc Seizure of OBJ Steer. Begins once SBF 2 is
established and ends when SBF 3 has been established. Critical to this phase
is deconfliction of 3rd and 2nd PLT, and the establishment of SBF 3.
(f) (U) Phase IIId: Seizure of OBJ Longhorn. Begins once SBF 3 is
established and ends when OBJ Bull is seized. Critical to this phase is
deconfliction of 3rd and 1st PLT.
(g) (U) Phase IV: Establishment of Hasty Defense and Consolidation
and Reorganization: Begins when OBJ Bull is seized and ends when PLTs have
established PLT Battle Positions oriented to the East of OBJ BULL. Critical to
this phase is the clearance of RTE Vibe and the establishment of BPs.

b. (U) Scheme of Maneuver.

(1) (U) Phase I: Planning/Preparation. Begins with the receipt of this OPORD and
ends when the Company SPs from TAA NATE. Critical to this phase is executing a company
CAR and platoon rehearsals and PCCs/PCIs. During this phase, the enemy continues to
build defensive positions and obstacles on OBJ Bull. Priority of RXLs for all PLTs are BD
8, BD 1, BD 2, and MTC. E5 and E6 will conduct L/U with D26 to conduct final preparations.
See timeline below.
(2) (U) Phase II: Movement. Begins when the Company SPs via truck
movement from TAA NATE IVO 16S GA 022 896 and ends when the Company is
staged in the ORP. The Company will SP from TAA Nate in OOM 2/D, 1, 2, 3, HQ to
ATK PSN Kathy (GA 066 875). 1st PLT will occupy from 10 to 2, 2nd PLT will occupy
from 2 to 6, and 3rd PLT will Occupy from 10 to 6. (This will be the method of
Occupation for the remainder of the operation) In ATK PSN Kathy, we will wait for F
and G Company to seize OBJ Ant and OBJ Cow to isolate OBJ Bull. O/O, we will SP
from ATK PSN Kathy and cross our LD (PL BUD). OOM is A/2/D, 1, HQ, 3, 2, B/2/D
moving in traveling overwatch. We will then move east along RTE Simpson 3 KM to
CP1 (GA098 868). They will continue movement SE for 3 KM until CP2 (GA 113 849).
We will continue movement SE for another 3 KM until our dismount point (GA 128
824). We will dismount and move to the south side of RTE Simpson. 1st PLT is first in
the OOM and will secure the dismount point. Once we have accounted for all MWE,
we will move down AXIS Abbey in Company Column, PLT Column, Squad Column,
Fireteam wedge, OOM 1st, 2nd, HQ, 3rd. 2/D will move down DOA Barbra and hold
the west of PL Dogfish. Company Mortars will move down DOA Carol and establish
MFP 1.

(3) (U) Phase IIIa: Suppression of OBJ Bull. Begins when the company leaves
the ORP and ends when ASLT PSN Henry is occupied. Suppression from TGT

9
AB9005 is the trigger to leave the ORP. 1st PLT will provide overwatch down PL
Elysium as 2, 3, and HQ crosses the high-speed AoA. Rounds impacting from TGT
AB9001 is also the trigger for 2/D to cross PL Dogfish and move down DOA Barbra in
a PLT column and establish SBF 1. 2/D will establish first with two .50 cal. Humvees
followed by 2x Mark-19 Humvees. Upon establishment of SBF 1, Fire missions on
AB9001 will cease and fire mission AB9010 will begin. The engagement criteria for
the .50 Cal is the emergence of any dismounts of softshell vehicles between TRPs 1-
2 Engagement rate of fire for the .50 Cal and rapid 8. The MK-19s will prioritize firing
on dead space to the east of OBJ Steer between TRPs 1-2. After crossing PL
Elysium, 3rd PLT will become first in the OOM and will continue moving down AXIS
Abbey to ATK PSN Henry.
(4) (U) Phase IIIb: Seizure of OBJ Bovine: Begins with the establishment of
ATK POS HENRY and ends with the establishment of SBF 2. At ATK POS HENRY,
we will end fire mission AB 9010. We will fire KC1005, AB9015, and AB1005, and
SBF 1 will shift fire to TRP 2-3. Suppression of the enemy from these fire missions,
smoke billowing from KC1005, and SBF1 shifting to TRP 2-3 is the trigger for 3rd PLT
to SP from ATK PSN Kathy. 3rd PLT will leave ATK PSN Kathy and move down Axis
Abbey and conduct a platoon-internal breach of the obstacles IVO PL Alabama.
Before crossing PL Alabama, E36 will EOM AB1005 and KC1001 and fire AB1010.
E36 will also ceasefire from SBF 1. Once these conditions are set, 3rd PLT will seize
OBJ Bovine, with an LOA of PL California. After seizing OBJ Bovine, 3rd PLT will
move down DOA Dianne, establish SBF 2, and suppress the enemy between TRPs
4-5.
(5) (U) Phase IIIc: Seizure OBJ Steer: Begins once SBF 2 is established and
ends when SBF 3 has been established. Once SBF2 is established, 2nd PLT will
move up to PL Alabama. Once the enemy is suppressed between TRP 4-5, 2nd PLT
will move down DOA Elanor to PL California. Before crossing PL California, 2nd PLT
will cease TGT AB1002 and fire AB1015. At PL California, SBF 2 will cease-fire, and
2nd PLT will seize OBJ Steer between PL California and PL Delaware. At this point,
the company has achieved its decisive point on OBJ Steer. Once 2nd PLT crosses PL
California, 1st PLT will move to PL Alabama. PL California will act as an RFL during
Phase IIIc. Once 2nd has seized OBJ Steer, they will move down DOA Elanor to
establish SBF 3 and suppress enemy between TRPs 6-7, and 1st PLT will move down
DOA Francis to PL California
(6) (U) Phase IIId: Seizure of OBJ Longhorn: Begins once SBF3 is established
and ends when OBJ Bull is seized. Once SBF3 is established, 1st PLT will move
down DOA Francis to PL California. Once the enemy is suppressed between TRP 6-
7, 1st PLT will move along DOA Francis to PL Delaware. Before crossing PL
Delaware, 1st PLT will cease TGT AB1003. At PL Delaware, SBF 3 will cease-fire,
and 1st PLT will seize OBJ Longhorn between PL Delaware and PL Florida. PL
California and PL Delaware will act as Platoon RFLs during Phase IIId.
(7) (U) Phase IV: Establishment of Hasty Defense and Consolidation and
Reorganization: Begins with the seizure of OBJ Longhorn and ends when PLTs have
established PLT Battle Positions oriented to the East of OBJ BULL. During this phase

10
1st PLT will move down DOA Ingrid and establish BP 1, 2nd PLT will move down
DOA Hattie and establish BP 2, and 3rd PLT will move down DOA Gertrude and
