The Stories of Adam and Eve, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Job and many other stories in
the Old testament point to ….
Someone who will fulfill God’s Promise of sending a Messiah to humanity.

Story of Jesus 1
He didn’t anymore send prophets of angels to the people of Israel

398 years after speaking through the prophet Malachi, God sent the Angel Gabriel
to tell the high priest Zechariah that the much awaited coming of the Messiah has
finally come…

and Zechariah’s son John will prepare the way of the Messiah

Afterwhich, God sent the Archangel Gabriel to a virgin in Nazareth named Mary to
tell her “… behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give
Him the name Jesus (Yeshua/Joshua).

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High

Story of Jesus 2
Is Jesus a real historical person?
Roman Sources

A letter from Pliny to Trajan

Suetonius’s Life of Cladius

Tacitus’s Annals

Summing up Roman Evidence: The fact that his followers were beginning to cause
problems for Rome prove that Jesus did exist.

PROPHECIES

Story of Jesus 3
Hundreds of years before Jesus birth, prophets predicted the coming of the
Messiah.

The OT, written by many people over a period of 1,500 years contains more than
300 such prophecies

MIRACLES
Jesus turned water into wine; He blowers plowed do my bucks they hate tone the
multiplied bread and fed more than 5,000 men; healed those who were mute, deaf,
lame, blind, leprous and possessed; controlled the movement of fish; walked on the
lake and calmed storms; drove out demons; and on several occasions raised
people from physical death.

The miracles performed by Jesus made him so popular among the Israelite masses
that they viewed him not only as their much awaited military liberator from their
Roman oppressors but someone like a fairy godmother or a genie.

The Gospel of Mark, Matthew, Luke and John will attest that “Jesus healed many
who were…” MANY BUT NOT ALL.

The followers of Jesus were so surprised that Jesus spoke of "forgiving and loving
their enemies." Jesus even invited them to see their pains, sufferings and crosses in
life not as punishments but blessings.

TEACHINGS
The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10)

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who
mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart,
for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of
God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is
the kingdom of heaven.

Last Judgement

"I was hungry, did you give me food? was thirsty, did you give me drink? I was a
stranger, did you welcome me? I was naked, did you clothe me?! was sick, did you care
for me? I was in prison, did you visit me? Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one
of these least brethren of mine, you did for me.

About the Parable of

1. Longest Parable

2. A complex story

3. Interconnected with two other parables

(lost coins, lost sheeps, lost sons)

Many bible scholars suggest that the more appropriate title of this parable is the “The
Parable of the Loving Father” for he is really the focus of this story.

RECAP
Job never learned why he suffered, and yet he's able to live in peace because no
matter what comes, good or bad, he trusts in God's wisdom. God's second reply to
Job can be found in Jesus.

It is indeed amazing that all the 300+ prophecies about the Messiah in the Old
Testament - written hundreds of years before Jesus were all fulfilled in him.

Jesus' performed extraordinary miracles (as prophecied in the Old Testament) but
he also taught many lessons which his followers found very strange and hard to
follow -"Love your enemies..."

Why Jesus called the Christ

It should be noted that most of the teachings of Jesus were uniquely his: loving
one's enemies, seeing blessedness in suffering... & relating to God as a loving
father

He was the messiah

The Adulterous Woman

Jesus knew that it was a trap - his enemies wanted a reason to entrap him

She was caught “in the very act”, But where the man?

Both should die by stoning

Jesus response: he wrote on the ground; “Let him who has no sin cast the first
stone”. One by one they left, leaving the woman

Jesus act echoes something God did in relation to the tablets of the 10
commandments which He gave to Moses in Mt. Sinai

Exodus 31:18 - The tablets in stone inscribed by the Finger of God

Jesus drove away the temple sellers

After driving the temple sellers, Jesus was asked to give a sign as to whose
authority he had to do this. Jesus told them “Destroy this temple, and in three days I
will raise it up”

In (Adulterous Woman & Temple Sellers), Jesus spoke and acted in the name of
God … which many Jewish religious leaders considered blasphemous & insulting
the God. This (temple sellers story) sealed the death of Jesus.

Judas Icariot, one of the apostles of Jesus betrayed Jesus. He was guilty and he
hanged himself after returning the silver coins.

Guilty of blasphemy - what was Jesus sentenced to by Jewish religious leaders.

Story of Jesus 5
Jewish religious leaders brought Jesus to Pontius Pilate. But Pilate was aware of
Jesus’ innocence that he let the people choose between Jesus and the criminal
Barabbas.
