Door Structure
The Avionics Compartment Access Door structure includes:
- a bended skin made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T3,
- 2 machined beams made from aluminium alloy 7175 T7351,
- 4 bended frames made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T42,
- 2 machined frames made from aluminium alloy 7175 T7351,
- 2 strips skin made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T42,
- 6 finger plates made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T42,
- 2 splices made from aluminium alloy CLAD 2024 T42.
Rivets universal head are used to assembly the primary structure. The door structure forms compartments for the installation of the latching mechanism. A guard
covers the latching mechanism. FINGER PLATE

Door Seal
A round seal made from elastomer provides an aircraft pressurisation seal. Retainers and screws attach the seal to the door structure. The seal makes the avionics
compartment pressure-tight and prevents the penetration of water.
Door Fittings
Four door stop fittings made from titanium alloy Ti6AI6-4V transfer the load pressure to the fuselage and allow to adjust the door flush with the fuselage skin.

Door Mechanism
The door latching mechanism is installed at the centre of the door. An inner and an outer handles operate the door latching mechanism.
The door latching mechanism comprises two latches (translatory motion) with an over-center between link rods and latch axis. A bi-stable spring rod, connected to the
main shaft is inclined to latch when the mechanism is in latch position and is inclined to unlatch when the mechanism is in unlatch position.
As the Avionics Compartment Access Door is classified as “not a hazard” when unlatched, no lock on the door latching mechanism is required.
Door Suspension and Compensating Mechanism
The door compensating mechanism is installed on the forward side of the door. It is a gas spring rod attached to the hinged arm. The door compensating mechanism
decreases the force necessary to open and close the door and keeps the door in the open position.
- The Avionics Compartment Access Door is attached to the fuselage by two hinged arms.
Bolts connect the hinged arms to the hinge attachment fittings at fuselage stiffener.

DRAINAGE
General
A drainage system is required for all areas with a risk of accumulation of fluids. The fluids have to be drained directly overboard. If that is not possible the "drain path"
has to be as short as possible to the nearest drain valve.
Drainage is ensured through design considerations and not through application of large quantities of sealant.

A380 Maintenance Program – Structures Supporting Data Sheet
DRAINAGE PROVISIONS
Holes in the frames, the beams and the strips skin allows the water drainage when the door is opened. Some typical drainage provisions are shown below:

Water repellent fluids (WRF) and/or corrosion inhibitors (CI) shall be applied in areas which are very humid and where water may collect. TPS type III material
(Socopac 65H or ARDROX AV15) shall be applied. In Mechanism area TPS Type I is applied instead of type III
The purpose is to reduce the risk of liquid penetration into small gaps, cracks in paint around fasteners etc. and to supply an additional protection required by some
airlines. To maintain this protection, repetitive application in-service is required.
