introduction
Industrial biology can be simply defined as the exploitation of enzymes, microorganisms, and plants to
produce energy, industrial chemicals and consumer goods , industrial. Industrial biotechnology boosts
productivity while using fewer resources and less powe. it cuts emmissions and reduces the use of fossil
fuels. it also generates less wate is an essential tool for treating and reusing waste
4.energy produce
5.biocatalysis of microorganisms
most biofuels are used as transportation fuels, but they may also be used for heating and electricity
generation. Gaseous fuels produced from biomass that are used directly as a gas or converted to liquid
fuels may qualify for use in government programs that promote or require use of biofuels
industrial biotech companies have begun commercializing processes that use methanotrophs and algae
to capture carbon dioxide and convert it to renewble chemicals, adverting carbon and other pollutant
emmissions as well as displacing fossil fuels
agro industrial wastes are ysed for manufacturing biofuels, enzymes, vitamins, antioxidents, animal feed,
antibiotics and other chemicals through solid state fermentation. the use of agro industril wastes as raw
materials can help to reduce the production cost and reduce the pollution load from the environment
advantages
biotech already has improved the production of paper, textiles, plastics, chemicals, fuels, pharmaceuticals
speeding theproduction process and reducing water, energy, and raw material inputs as well as pollution.
For example, bleaching pulp for paper through biotech processes can reduce the use of chlorine based
chemicals by upto 15 percent and energy use by third or more
industrial biotech reduces waste and gives us so many environment friendly adaptions which can
eventually save the environment in many purposes and lead us to a sustainable future
limitations
although industrial biotechnology has many benefits for the environment,it has some limitations as well.
industrial biotechnology involves genetic engineering which is nothing but transferring gene from one
and inserting them into other species. the cost of production and genetically modified plants and
animals are highly costly and needs a lots of initial investment
conclusion
industrial biotechnology processes can be used to efficiently break down waste and produce materials
with lower pollution, water, land and energy use than traditional methods. the number of applications
where industrial biotechnology could make a difference towards sustainability is virtually unlimited
hence its very essential and prominen
