Please complete the Assessment Critique for the Summative Unit Assessments you’ve created to meet a High Achievement

Unit Outcome.
You should have at least three types of assessments so you would be completing three of these Assessment Critiques.

2. Indicate any problems with the following:


a. Are there clear instructions about what students are to do?
Yes, the instructions and directions are clear for each part of the assessment, indicating students exactly what they need to
do. I do not find any problems with this part of the assessment.
b. Has an answer key or rubric been provided for each and are they easy to use?
Yes, an answer key is provided for each item of this assessment, and I believe it to be very easy to use. I do not find any
problems with the answer key, since this is a selected response assessment, the answer key provides the exact and only
correct answer.
c. Are the criteria stated clearly and easy to apply?
I did not use rubrics for this assessment, but yes, the criteria for scoring is clear when using the answer key.

3. Is it an appropriate type of assessment for the Learning Target(s)? YES NO Explain:


I believe that the questions in this selected response assessment are appropriate. The questions are also relevant to the learning
targets assessed, so the student can accurately demonstrate their understanding of the material.

4. Does the assessment align with the outcome and components/learning targets?
Yes, the assessment does align completely with the outcome and components/learning targets. The assessment is comprehensive
and covers all of the selected learning targets for this assessment.
a. Are there any items in the outcome or components/learning targets that are not included in the assessment? If so, which
ones?
This assessment only evaluates three of the six learning targets (Engl 9.4.1, Engl 9.4.2 & Engl 9.4.3) all items in this
assessment are attached to one of the learning targets mentioned below.
b. Are there any items in the assessment that are not in the outcome or components/learning targets? If so, which ones?
No, I did not find any items that were not directly attached to the components/learning targets. All Items are assessing the
learning targets attached to this assessment.

5. Is the vocabulary appropriate for the age of the student? YES NO


The vocabulary used in this selected response assessment is appropriate for ESOL high school students.

Yes, I find the instructions and directions clear for each of the assessment parts, indicating exactly what students need to
do. I don't find any problems with this part of the assessment.
b. Has an answer key or rubric been provided for each and are they easy to use?
Yes, I have provided an answer key for the short answer items and rubrics for the extended response items and
interpretative items. I have edited these rubrics to better fit the assignment and I find them easy to use as they provide an
exact guide for the grading and scoring of these items.
c. Are the criteria stated clearly and easy to apply?
Yes, the critera are stated clearly for each rubric and I find it easy to apply.

Yes, I believe that the questions are appropriate for a written response assessment. The questions are also relevant to the learning
targets assessed, so the student can accurately demonstrate their understanding of those learning targets.

4. Does the assessment align with the outcome and components/learning targets?
Yes, the assessment does align totally with the outcome and learning targets. The assessment is inclusive of the selected learning
targets for this assessment.

a. Are there any items in the outcome or components/learning targets that are not included in the assessment? If so, which
ones?
This assessment only evaluates four of the six learning targets (Engl 9.4.1, Engl 9.4.3, Engl 9.3.4 & Engl 9.4.5) all items in this
assessment are attached to one of the learning targets mentioned below.
b. Are there any items in the assessment that are not in the outcome or components/learning targets? If so, which ones?
No, I did not find any items that were not directly attached to the components/learning targets. All Items are assessing the
learning targets attached to this assessment.

Yes, the instructions and directions are clear for this assessment, indicating students exactly how they need to complete the
task. I do not find any problems with this part of the assessment.

I have provided a rubric to evaluate the performance task. I have edited the rubric to better fit the assignment and evaluate
exactly the learning target. I find this rubric easy to use as it provides an exact guide for the grading and scoring the
performance tasks.

c. Are the criteria stated clearly and easy to apply?


Yes, the critera are stated clearly for the rubric and I find it easy to apply it to grading and scoring.

Yes, I believe that the task in this performance assessment is appropriate. The task is also relevant to the learning target assessed,
so the student can demonstrate their understanding.

11. Does the assessment align with the outcome and components/learning targets?
a. Are there any items in the outcome or components/learning targets that are not included in the assessment? If so, which
ones?
This assessment only evaluates one of the six learning targets (Engl 9.4.6) the item/task in this assessment is directly
attached to the learning target mentioned below.

b. Are there any items in the assessment that are not in the outcome or components/learning targets? If so, which ones?
No, the item /task is directly attached to the component/learning target evaluated in this Performance Assessment.
