Unit V FINAL ACTIVITY

Part 1. Differentiate Transformation Leadership versus Hands-On Leader

Hands-on leadership relies heavily on procedures and control and calls for a rigid organizational
structure. On the other side, transformational leadership focuses on motivating people to follow
and necessitates a high level of coordination, communication, and collaboration.

I prefer being a transformational leader since one of the leaders I look up to is an example.
Martin Luther King, Jr. is an example of a transformational leader, according to Lussier &
Achua's Leadership: Theory, Application & Skill Development, because he increased follower
confidence, questioned commonly held beliefs, identified follower needs, and supported high
moral standards.

Part 2. Why is teamwork important for you and your Company/Cooperative? Justify your
answer

Teamwork is important for me and company since teamwork allows my group to share ideas and
duties, it makes everyone feel less stressed and enables them to be more meticulous and thorough
in their task completion. This will help us fast reach their sales objectives. Us, the employees can
engage with one another within a project thanks to collaboration. Because they can gain skills
from more experienced employees, this engagement is a fantastic learning opportunity for new
employees. New hires might also provide more seasoned personnel with new and creative ideas.
The ability for new and more seasoned employees to challenge one another's ideas and methods
of operation in order to come up with a workable, efficient solution that enables employees to
finish the tasks at hand underscores the value of collaboration in the workplace.

Part 3. Select from any of the identified CRS trends discussed above and prepare a short
write- ups or discussion paper how it will contribute to the betterment of service rendered
by a cooperative organization to its member-customer/clients?

Transparency is essential for long-term survival because, when used to help members understand
the cooperative and the sector or industry to which it belongs, it provides the basis of member
loyalty over time. In order to be transparent, members must not only have "a mental image of
their own relationship to the co-op," but also "a mental image of other members' relationship to
the co-op," in order to understand what various services are needed by various member
groupings. For members to completely trust their co-op to be an effective agent in satisfying
those requirements, the interests of each member and the interests of other members must be

apparent to all members. In fact, the more of these the co-op seeks, the more Fairbairn says that
becoming more transparent can be "one means for co-ops to obtain more from their membership,
to enjoy greater loyalty, to raise money, or to have higher engagement and stronger leadership."

The more input from its members, the more open it must be. Hence, transparency involves more
than just the election process and also involves identifying methods for including stakeholders in
the formulation and planning of important strategic decisions.

Part 4. Give examples in the area of trends in CSR (you may read the newspaper, or search
for writeups on CSR practices from companies and cooperatives existing in your locality,
or you may want to search the internet for socially responsible companies/coops

CSR trend: Labor Practice, Diversity and Inclusion

Accenture believes that "no one should be discriminated against because of their differences,
such as age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, religion, or sexual
orientation." Policies of Businesses and Cooperative Enterprise: Accenture — Diversity &
Inclusion

CSR trend: Green Technology

Company and cooperative enterprise practices: Green environmental initiatives at Disney.

Disney is committed to appeasing the businesses that helped it become a global powerhouse by
implementing zero net direct greenhouse gas emission rules at all of its facilities. Also, through
reducing electrical use, it is attempting to lower indirect greenhouse gas emissions. Disney also
has a zero waste policy, which means that nothing goes to the landfill. The massive
entertainment company also employs water-saving technology and is aiming to reduce the
environmental impact of the production and distribution of its goods. Disney has become a
leader in environmental responsibility thanks to its policy of having a net positive environmental
effect, which is linked to this.

CSR trend: Increased in transparency

Whole Foods: GMO disclosure. Whole Foods has already come under intense attention as a
company recognized for selling natural foods for more money than typical supermarket stores.
Customers at Whole Foods choose to shop there because they care about their health, so when
they find that some products may perhaps jeopardize that, it can be very unsettling for them.
Transparency was a top concern for the business by the time Whole Foods was hit with a class
action lawsuit accusing the chain of falsely identifying products as non-GMO when they were

actually products of genetic engineering. Whole Foods is now working on programs to make it
the first national grocery chain to give complete GMO transparency.

CSR trend: Global Companies, Acting locally

In a manner similar to McDonald's, Domino's Pizza routinely updates its menu and topping
options to take into account regional tastes and cuisine preferences. According to Patrick Doyle,
President & CEO of the company, "50% of the offerings at Domino's stores are localized" in
India. Dominos is on track to make India its largest market outside of the US by adding
alternatives like paneer pizza, chicken tikka masala pizza, and kheema do pyaza pizza to the
menu. Businesses need to learn from Domino's example and recognize the cultural and linguistic
preferences of their customers in order to develop a loyal client base.

Part 5. If you were to prepare and implement a Cooperatives Social Responsibility Plan for
your selected or chosen type of cooperative, what would it be? What specific theoretical
framework will you use? Will the leader and the members agree on the CSR plan? How
will it be communicated? How will the members of the cooperative in particular as well as
the community in general benefit from it? Justify your answer.

One of the honorable things we can do in these times of need to assist others is to volunteer.
Through volunteering, you may improve your community and strengthen your sense of
community. It might be as advantageous to you and your loved ones as the cause you decide to
support. You may increase your social skills, meet new acquaintances, and grow your network
by volunteering your time. Because of this, if I were to practice cooperative social responsibility,
I would engage in community service by volunteering. The highest form of civic engagement is
volunteering. Your people show a sincere commitment to civic advancement and communal
improvement when they give back to the area in which they reside and volunteer their time to
make life better for their neighbors. Setting up volunteer opportunities in your communities is a
crucial first step in fostering involvement and strengthening the bond between your residents and
your neighborhood.

Since the word itself emphasizes the community, I picture assisting the Community Cooperative.
Businesses known as community cooperatives operate primarily for the benefit of their
neighborhood. Managed by the community itself, they have open and voluntary membership
and, most importantly, they promote participation by encouraging people to join, volunteer, or
participate in another way. It is an outreach initiative designed to support the locals in isolated
regions of the cooperative I choose, "Community Cooperative."

It would be ideal if my theoretical framework was Organization Success because I intend to

develop a Volunteering in a Community program. This kind of Framework will improve teams'
ability to collaborate on projects. Community service makes it possible in this way. In order for
the CSR plan to be effective for us and to have a goal setting to execute the CSR plan properly, I
personally made some of the lists on whether the leader and the members on the CSR plan agree
on the CSR plan and how will it be communicated.
