NEW GUIDELINES IN SUBMITTING ARTICLES

FOR PUBLICATION IN PUNTO CAVITE

1. To facilitate the dissemination of information regarding the accomplishments of the

Division and extension offices and all public elementary and secondary schools under its
purview, this Office issues the new guidelines for the submission of articles for Punto
Cavite, the official newsletter of DepEd Cavite Province.

2. All Division Office-based personnel, particularly activity and training program

proponents or any authorized program management team member, are directed to adhere to
these guidelines and are enjoined to submit articles within 48 hours upon the conduct of their
programs, projects, and activities.

3. All extension office and school-based personnel and students are encouraged to
submit articles regarding their conducted or initiated PPAs and/ or accomplishments, best
practices, and innovations.

4. All contributors shall use the Article Submission Form which may be downloaded
from deped.in/PuntoCaviteASF

5. Enclosed are the guidelines which shall be complied for articles to be considered for
publication in Punto Cavite.

6. All Division Memoranda inconsistent with the provision of this Memorandum is hereby
rescinded or modified.

7. Other queries and/ or clarifications may be communicated to the Division Office

through depedcavite.dio@deped.gov.ph

8. Immediate dissemination and strict compliance to this Memorandum is earnestly

desired.

GUIDELINES FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES FOR PUNTO CAVITE

1. Article Submission Form (ARF) shall be used in preparing all articles to be submitted.
Accomplished ARF shall only be submitted to depedcavite.dio@deped.gov.ph. Only articles
which used the said form and in MS Word format, sent to the official email address, will be
reviewed.

2. On Preparing Articles and Selecting Photos. For news or feature articles (regarding
programs, projects, or activities conducted or participated by the Office/ District/ school or
any of its student or personnel), the following shall be strictly observed:

• be written in the third-person or first-
person point of view depending on the type
of article (i.e. news must be in third person
POV, feature may be in third or first person
POV)
• be written in Filipino or English. The writer
should choose the language he/ she is most
comfortable with in writing.
• be composed of 200 to 600 words only
• have a headline/ title
• submitted to depedcavite.dio@deped.gov.ph
in MS Word format only using the Article
Submission Form. Articles prepared using
other templates and saved using other
formats (i.e. .pdf, .pub) will not be
accepted.
• be action photos.
• be high quality, crisp, clear, and focused.
Use of DLRs, point and shoot cameras, or
high-quality camera phones is highly
encouraged. Avoid blurry or noisy photos as
much as possible. Do not submit collaged
photos.
• NOT contain any watermarks. Photos will be
credited to the identified owner.
• be submitted as attachments in .jpeg
and/ or .png format only. Those posted in
a Word document will not be accepted.
*Caption shall be provided in the Article
Submission Form.

3. All articles shall undergo screening and editing when necessary. Due credit will be given
to the author/ contributor.

4. In the event that the Division receives articles dealing with the same topic but from
different sources (i.e. schools, districts), the editorial staff assigned to edit the articles have
the discretion to come up with a single article. All contributors shall be included in the byline.

5. All submissions that are non-compliant to the above-mentioned standards shall not be
considered for publication in Punto Cavite.

6. Contributors shall be informed through email whether their submission passed the
screening and editing and will be published in Punto Cavite.

7. Certificate of Publication shall be issued to the author of the published articles.
