1.1. Determination of Parameters and Calibration Data (to find in menue 05)
1.1.1. Calibration Factor "m spe"
A shifting of the measured value determined on site (e.g. during the calibration) is
corrected by the calibration factor "m spe":

Vref
m spe (new) = • m spe (old)
Vdis

Formula 1: m spe
Vref  Volume setpoint (e.g. calibration vessel, balance or something similar)
Vdis  IZMS/IZMSE display volume

Example 1: Calibration Factor “m spe”

A deviation dF% of +0.2 % is determined upon the calibration of a flow meter type
IZMSE.

Calibration vessel: Vref = 500 l

Display: Vdis = 501 l

500
m spe = • 1.0 = 0.9980
501

1.1.2. Positive Flow Factor "p spe"

The flow can be separately revaluated in the arrow direction of the transmitter in
exactly the same way as the calculation of the calibration factor "m spe".
The calculation corresponds to that of the calibration factor “m spe“:
"p spe" > 1.0000  positive flow value is increased
"p spe" < 1.0000  positive flow value is decreased

1.1.3. Negative Flow Factor "n spe"

The flow can be separately revaluated opposite to the arrow direction of the
transmitter in exactly the same way as the calculation of the factor "p spe".
The calculation corresponds to that of the calibration factor “m spe“:

"n spe" > 1.0000 negative flow value is increased

"n spe" < 1.0000 negative flow value is decreased

1.1.4. Dimensioning Factor "m dim"

The dimensioning factor "m dim" (e.g. density factor) serves for the conversion into
freely selectable measuring and volume units.

V 45.7 l
unit free unit

0 2
This factor can be freely set only if the unit “unit free unit“ is set in
(“menu 02“).

Example 2:

Measurement of US gallons, but the displayed reading shall be in “lbs“.

Density factor: 8.34 lbs/gal è "m dim 8.340"

1.1.5. Fine Adaptation by “b spe”

Corrections can be realized at low flow rates by means of “b spe”. For that purpose,
the measured volume “V dis” is compared with the volume setpoint “V ref” at the
small flow “q%”.

The “b spe” value results from the following calculation:

Vdis - Vref
b spe = •q%
Vref
Formula 2: b spe

Example 3: “b spe” Value

(a) At a flow of 100% the displayed quantity and the contents of the
calibration vessel are equal.

(b) However, at a flow of 8% only and an exact contents of the calibration

vessel of 100 litres, flow meter type IZMS will show a value of
100.39 … 100.45 litres:

The average value of 100.42 litres results in the following

correction value:

100.42 – 100
b spe = • 8% ⇒ b spe = -0.0336
100
