III-LEARNING TASK

A.Introduction /Presentation
a. Preparation Good morning children! Let us all stand for our opening prayer.
(Video presentation)

You may now have your seat. Let me first check your attendance.
(Say present if your name is called)

Here are the rules to follow inside the classroom

1. Listen attentively to the teacher.

2. Raise your right hand if you want to answer.
3. Sit properly.
4 .Be Quiet

Aside from that, here are the basic health protocol in a face to face
classe.

Why do we need to follow the health protocol ?( Answers may vary?

Yes,We need to observe the basic health protocol to avoid from getting
infected by the virus

So, let us strictly observe that, inside as well as outside the classroom.
Now,I have here an incentive chart. I will group you into
two, if your group answer correctly, you will have the chance to
take one step on the ladder. The more correct answers you
have have, the better.

b. Drill Use of basic multiplication facts.

Say: I have here the basic multiplication facts . As I flash the

multiplication sentence on the screen, you will have to give me your
answer .

1. 2 x 6 =
2. 8 x 3=
3. 5 x 2 =
4. 6 x 4 =
5. 9 x 2 =

c. Review Have some pupils recite the multiplication table from 1 to 10 through a
game entitled “ Who am I “

Say: Let’s see if you still remember our lesson.

Let’s do climbing the ladder

Gr.1 Gr.2
4.My factors are 8 and 3, what number am I?

3.My factors are 9 and 4, what number am I?

2.My factors are 5 and 2, what number am I?

1.My factors are 3 and 4, what number am I?

Good job,children!

d. Motivation “Use of ICT”

Localization and Contextualization
Song presentation

Ask: What was the song all about

What operation was used in the song?

e. Presentation Today, we are going to learn on how to apply the commutative property
of multiplication. It is important for you to learn and listen to what I will
be discussing today, for you to be able to understand commutative
property.

Commutative Property of Multiplication states that the order of the

B. Modeling ( I Do ) factors in the given number sentence does not affect its product.
Therefore, changing the order of the factors does not change the
product.
Take a closer look below.

-Multiplications consist of two factors, where 12 and 3 are the factors

and 36 are the product.

-There are two number sentences with the same factors.

On the first number sentence, the first factor is 12 multiplied to 3 and its
product is 36.
-For the second number sentence, the order of the factors was
changed where 3 as the first factor multiplied to 12 also gives the
product of 36. Note that the order of the factors is changed but the
product is just the same.

Let’s take a look at this example

-The first group shows that there are 4 rows and 3 columns of pots of
flowers.

-So we write 4 x 3 as our multiplication sentence wherein 4 and 3 are

the factors and the product is 12.

-On the other hand, we noticed that the order of the factors is changed
where in there are 3 rows and 4 columns of pots of flowers and the
product is still the same which is 12.

-So we write 3 x 4 as our multiplication sentence wherein 3 and 4 are

the factors and the product is 12
-Thus changing the order of the factor does not change the product.
This is called the commutative property of multiplication.
Commutative property means that changing the order of the factors
does not change the product

Another example.

Lilibeth draws 6 circle with 3 stars inside each circle While Ana draws
3 circles with 6 stars inside each circle.

Lilibeth

-In this illustration, There are 6 groups of circle and 3 stars each inside
it. We write the multiplication sentence as 6 x 3 where 6 and 3 are the
factors and the product is 18

On the other hand, we noticed that the order of the factors is

changed where in there are 3 groups of circle and each have 6 stars

- We write the multiplication sentence as 3 x 6 where 3 and 6 are the

factors and the product is 18
-Thus changing the order of the factor does not change the product.
This is called the commutative property of multiplication. Commutative
property states that changing the order of the factors does not change
the product

Here are other examples.

6 x 5=

If 6 x 5 are the given factors, the other factors that exhibits the
commutative property are 5 x 6 and the product is still the same.

Therefore: 6 x 5 = 5 x 6
30 = 30

-thus, we noticed that changing the order of the factors in the given
number sentence does not affect its product. This property of
multiplication is called commutative property.

Commutative property states that changing the order of the factors

does not change the product

Remember class that Commutative Property of Multiplication states

that changing the order of the factors does not change the product

C. Guided Practice(We Do ) What have we learned today?

What is Commutative property?
If the given factor is 4 x 3, what will be the other factors that exhibit the
commutative property?
Ok, Very good!

This time let us all learn on how to apply the commutative property of
multiplication.

Take a look at this picture

MIMI NENA

Who are in the picture? How many boxes of egg did Mimi
arranged? How many pieces of egg are there in each box? How many
pieces of egg did Mimi arranged in all?

How about Nene, How many boxes of bread did Nene arranged?
How many pieces of egg are there in each box? How many pieces of
egg did Nene arranged in all?
Do they have the same number of pieces? Very good.

Now. Lets talk about the egg which Mimi and Nene have.
The egg is formed in the reproductive tract of a female chicken,
called a hen. The reproductive tract is divided into two major parts: the
ovary and the oviduct. The ovary is where the yolk is added. When the
yolk reaches the right size, it is released from the ovary by a process
called ovulation.

Eggs also are a good source of other nutrients, including vitamin D

(which aids bone health and the immune system) and choline (which
helps metabolism and liver function, as well as fetal brain
development).

(Integration to Health and Science)

Let’s have an activity

Direction: Express the commutative property of multiplication by

matching column A with column B. Write The letter of the correct
answers

A B

______ 1. 3 X 4 a. 3 x 8
______ 2. 5 x 6 b. 2 x 6
______ 3. 6 x 2 c. 4 x 3
______ 4. 8 x 3 d. 6 x 5
______ 5. 9 x 7 e. 7 x 9

E. Independent Practice Show that multiplication is commutative. Write the missing letter.

1. 3 x = 7 x 3

2. x 4 = 4 x 3

3. 7 x = 9 x 7

4. 8 x 6 = x 8

5. 9 x = 6 x 9

IV- EVALUATION Complete the multiplication sentences by applying the commutative

property of multiplication. Find the product.

2. 6 x 7 = x 6 = ______

3. 7 x 9 = 9 x = ______

4. x 6 = 6 x 4 = ______

5. x = 7 x 2 = ______

V- ASSIGNMENT Directions: Encircle the letter of the correct answer.

1. Joan has 5 baskets with 8 flowers in each basket. If we are going to

express the baskets and flowers into a number sentence which of the
following, is CORRECT?

a. 8 x 5 = 40 b. 5 x 8 = 40 c. 5 x 7 = 35

2. Which of the following is the commutative property of 12 x 5 = 60?

a. 12 x 5 = 60 b. 60 x 12 = 5 c. 5 x 12 = 60
