This is Marla Ruyan’s biography. Read it paying close attention to the years and dates.
Then design a timeline about her life. 

Marla Runyan 
January 4, 1969 

At the age of nine, Runyan developed Stargardt’s Disease, which is a form of macular
degeneration that left her legally blind. Marla Runyan is a three time national champion in
the women’s 5000 meters. She won four gold medals in the 1992 summer Paralympics. In
the 1996 Paralympics she won silver in the shot put and gold in the Pentathlon. In 2000
she became the first legally blind paralympian to compete in the Olympic games in
Sydney, Australia. She holds various American records such as 20,000 Road (2003), All-
female Marathon (2002), 500m (2001) , Heptathlon (1996). In 2001, she co-wrote and
published her autobiography ‘No Finish Line: My Life As I See It’

Marla Runyan was born on January 4, 1969.

 At age of nine (In 1978), Runyan developed Stargardt’s Disease.

 Runyan graduated from Adolfo Camarillo High School in 1987.

 Runyan began to make her mark as a world-class runner in 1999


at the Pan American Games.

 In 2000 Runyan became the first legally blind person and
Paralympian to compete in the Olympic Games in Sydney,
Australia.

In 2001, she co-wrote and published her autobiography, No Finish


Line: My Life As I See It.
She married her coach, Matt Lonergan, in 2002.

She finished fifth place in the Boston Marathon in 2003.

She had a daughter with Matt Lonergan in 2005.

In the fall of 2014 Runyan joined her husband as a coach at


Northeastern University.
