OGL 481 Pro-Seminar I:

PCA-Choosing an Organization Worksheet
Worksheet Objectives:
1. Identify an organization and situation you want to study over the remainder of the course.
2. Describe the organization and situation.

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and

format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1)   Describe your organization.

My organization is responsible for training and certifying a workforce of mechanics that build
the world's most cutting-edge and advanced defense aircraft. My organization comprises training
representatives, administrative support, and learning systems data scientists and management.
This organization supports training skilled technicians for all of the company's defense aerospace
programs. We are also responsible for hiring and leveling touch labor talent to staff all the
programs. The organization also collaborates with community colleges, trade schools, and high
schools to provide career opportunities to individuals early in their careers.

2)    Describe your role in the organization (it can be internal or external).

My role is internal to the organization, and I am the manager of our training organization and
academy that services the company nationwide. I work with a hardworking, highly motivated,
intelligent, and talented team. My role is to prioritize and guide the many moving parts of the
training organization. I must strategize how best to support multiple programs at multiple
locations while focusing on my team's development and project facilitation. I am a process
improvement manager, so I'm constantly focused on my team's story and the processes and
procedures that govern our work. I am also responsible for monitoring daily training at our
facility and overseeing instructors with another manager. Compliance is at the root of our
organization; our training program is responsible for employees' lives and program success;
therefore, it must be a tight ship that remains agile enough to support the development and new
technology. My role in this organization is to ensure that my team is running smoothly and made
up of the right talent and priorities to keep all our customers safe and compliant.

3)   Describe the situation. (see the Canvas instructions for details, especially about how
your case will be analyzed from five different perspectives over the following five modules)

1
During an audit conducted by the organization's data scientist, it was found that a representative
that supports training coordination on one of our classified programs was falsifying training
records putting individuals, our organization, and the entire company at risk. In this audit, it was
found that over 500 instances of this non-compliance had occurred, therefore falsifying
documentation and falsely certifying 500 plus employees conducting dangerous statements of
work. As the manager of an organization rooted in compliance and enforcing compliance
adherence, this is a tremendous conflict that needs to be mitigated. The negative impacts as a
result of this audit finding could be devastating. Forging medical and dangerous certifications
can result in legal implications as well. My organization will now be responsible for resolving
this issue while having the most negligible impact on operations. We will be responsible for a
full audit of our learning management system (LMS), as this individual found a loophole in the
permissions within our (LMS). This issue has multiple issues that need to be addressed, and it
must be done in the fastest manner possible to ensure safety, production, and compliance. This
includes all functions of my organization to handle the issue affecting all areas of our
organization. Input from multiple stakeholders must be considered when a constraint
management plan is decided upon, as the risks caused by this audit finding could negatively
affect many organizations and stakeholders.
