CODE 06140338

Ultrasonic flow sensor for fertilisation

that operates under the principle of ultra-
sonic wave transit time measurement.

Sensor output signals can be digital

(pulsed) or analogue (voltage and current).
The measurement range is from 12 to 1500
litres per hour (0.2 to 25 litres per minute).

Its design provides high precision, since it is a non-invasive counter. In other words, there are
no mechanical elements that interfere with the flow and, also, the path followed by the fluid
inside the device minimises pressure losses.

It also enables solid contaminants to pass through without affecting performance. It also has
automatic viscosity and temperature compensation, which means it can work with different
liquids.

3/8" BSP threaded connection with a maximum pressure of 10 bar.

Installation
The ultrasonic sensor can be installed at any angle, although it is recommended to install it so
that the U-shaped measurement section remains full.

INSTALLATION WITH INJECTION PUMP

The sensor must not be installed on the pump's suction of the, but always on its output.

Connections
The ultrasonic sensor, in "Pulse output" mode needs the pulse frequency transmitter (06750012)
and can be connected to the Agrónic 2500 or to the Agrónic Bit. In the case of the Agrónic 5500,
Agrónic 4000 and Agrónic 7000, the transmitter is not required and can be connected directly.
If the sensor is used as a counter and in "Current output" mode (only for Agrónic 5500), it will
need to be powered by a separate power supply from the Agrónic 5500.
Each sensor has a cable hose that enables the different connections to be made easily.
Depending on the programmer, it is connected according to the following colour legend:

Sensor configuration
PULSE OUTPUT MODE
The sensor, with digital output by pulses, determines the flow that is circulating from the time
that separates the last two pulses received.
• When the sensor is connected through the transmitter, the transmitter is configured by
default at 100 cycles (Hz) each pulse. In addition, in the programmer it is necessary to
configure both the input number and the value equivalent to the 100 cycles received by
the transmitter. In other words, 0.1 or 100 cl.
• When the sensor is connected to the Agrónic 4000, in the question "Cycles per centilitre"
set the value at 10 Hz. The reading limitation is 1500 L/h.
• When the sensor is connected to the Agrónic 5500, in the question "Cycles per litre" set
the value at 1000 Hz.
• When the sensor is connected to the Agrónic 7000, in the question "Cycles per 1 ml" set
the value at 1 Hz. The reading limitation is 700 L/h.

Depending on the programmer, this is done as follows:

• Agrónic 2500 (Basic) + Transmitter: Function | Settings | General | CF1 ... CF4
• Agrónic 2500 (PLUS) + Transmitter: Function | Settings | Sensors | Counters
• Agrónic 4000: Function | Settings | Sensors | Digital | Code: 27 to 34
• Agrónic 5500: Function | Settings | Sensors | Counters (From D1 to D5)
• Agrónic 7000: Function | Settings | Digital Inputs | Code: 07 to 14
• Agrónic Bit + Transmitter: Function | Settings | Sensors | Counters

ANALOGUE OUTPUT MODE

The sensor, with analogue output, acts by delivering a current proportional to a voltage
proportional to the flow rate it measures. The format indicates the sensor units and the
relationship between the voltage read by the input and the sensor reading values.
Two calibration points must be configured for the sensor calculation from the programmer
menu as follows.
Fertiliser sensor format
From the programmer menu, go to:
Value to
Setting configure
Type analogue
Units m3/h
• Agrónic 5500: Function | Settings | Calibration Point 1
Sensors | Counters Real value 800 mV
Once in, configure the settings as shown in Logical value 0.00 m3/h
the following table. Calibration Point 2
Real value 4000 mV
Logical value 001.50 m3/h

It is important to check that the logical values are correctly configured,

NOTE
otherwise the sensor reading will be incorrect.

Troubleshooting
THE SENSOR DOES NOT GIVE ANY READING

Agrónic 5500
• If the sensor is connected in pulse mode:
‒ Check that there is voltage between Terminal R- and R+ (12 Vdc or 24 Vac) and that
the sensor's red cable is connected to the positive (+) of the external power supply,
independent of the positive (+) of the programmer.
‒ Check that the digital input number where the sensor has been connected coincides with
the input number configured in "Settings - Sensors - Counters". In other words, from
input 1 to 5.

• If the sensor is connected in 4-20 mA mode:

‒ Check that the analogue input number where the sensor has been connected coincides
with the input number configured in "Settings - Sensors - Analogue". In other words,
from input 1 to 12.
‒ Check that the sensor's red cable is connected to the positive (+) of the external power
supply and at the same time to one of the 12 analogue inputs of the programmer.
‒ Check that the brown cable of the sensor is connected to the common of the analogue
inputs (CA).

Agrónic 4000 / A-7000

• If the sensor is connected in pulse mode and the Agrónic 4000-7000 is powered by 220 V:
‒ Check that there is voltage between COMMON and F-/PHASE (24 Vac) and that the
sensor's red cable is connected to the positive (+) of the external power supply.
‒ Check that the digital input number where the sensor has been connected coincides with
the input number configured in "Settings - Sensors - Function Code 27...34 (A-4000) /
07...14 (A-7000).

• If the sensor is connected in pulse mode and the Agrónic 4000-7000 is powered at 12 V:
‒ Check that the sensor has been connected correctly along with the programmer's power
supply.

Transmitter
• The sensor is connected in pulse mode:
‒ Check that the transmitter is powered at 12 Vdc and that the sensor's red cable is
connected to the positive (+) of the transmitter's power supply.
