1. SYNOPSIS
SCIENCE MUSEUM
A science museum is a museum devoted primarily to science. Older science museums
tended to concentrate on static displays of objects related to natural history, paleontology,
geology, industry and industrial machinery, etc. Modern trends in museology have
broadened the range of subject matter and introduced many interactive exhibits. Modern
science museums, increasingly referred to as 'science centers’ or 'discovery centers', also
feature technology.
While the mission statements of science centers and modern museums may vary, they are
commonly places that make science accessible and encourage the excitement of discovery.
AIM
To spread scientific awareness & technology & need for an Architectural intervention.
OBJECTIVE
1. To increase awareness & satisfy curiosity.
2. To showcase advancements in the field of science.
3. Boost educational tourism.
The objective of this thesis is to understand the thought behind a science museum. Bring
about awareness, how study of science gained popularity, and how science helped in a
way to boost individual thought.
And thus,
To understand why it is important to inculcate architecture in institutions. To understand
that architecture’s role is to provide more than just proper lighting, and space to show
exhibits and promote a permanent platform for science.
This thesis should help to realize the importance of a fine amalgamation of
architecture, history and culture, since this study will provide a much better, profound
outcome, in terms of infrastructural enhancement of the nation.
SCOPE
With this study we will try to understand the thought that goes behind designing a museum
of informal education, the concept behind it, and design considerations for the same.
LIMITATION
We will not conduct an in-depth study of the structural analysis as they are not the main
aspect of the design The thesis also does not discuss the cost analysis/ estimation. since it is
an academic project.
