A detailed script on how I will teach using a manipulative approach

Topic: Parallel lines

GoodHoly everyone!
Our lesson for today is all about lines. How will we know that this line is a
parallel?
Now, let’s begin with a point that has an exact location in space and represented
by a dot.

We can name points using letters such as:

A B C D

When this point or dot are joining together it will form a line.

A line is a set of all points between and beyond two points. It is infinite in length. It is a
straight one-dimensional figure that has no thickness and extends endlessly.

In geometry the line has an arrow on its side. This represents that each side of a line
can extend endlessly.

In naming a line, we will use two Capital letters

You can name this as line AB or line BC and to write this one, we use the symbol of a
line in geometry, which is a line with an arrow in both sides.

AB BA

Let’s try to observe the movement of the two cars. The blue car move from point C to
point F, we can name this line as line CD. The red car move from point E to point F, we
can name this line as line EF.

CD EF
If the two cars continue to move in the same direction, do you think they will meet in a
certain point?
Very good!
The two cars will never meet at a certain point.
Try to look at this. If we represent the movement of the two cars using a line.

It is a pair of a line that do not meet at a certain point even if we extend the line in both
directions. We called this a parallel lines.
A parallel lines are lines that do not meet. So we can say that line CD is parallel to line
EF and we can write it like this :

CD ││ EF

We use this symbol to

represent parallel line

Here are the other examples of parallel lines:
