Abstract of Disclosure

Philippines is one of the countries in the world that has a huge problem in waste

management. The country doesn’t have enough sanitary landfills to accommodate all the

trashes, so the researchers brainstorm and come into a way on eradicating trashes

through burning it and also have an emergency supply of electricity by harnessing

electricity to the burned trashes. The researchers made a product that will solve the

problem of trashes and electricity. This product is made stronger through various research

which also includes the type of materials it composes to with stand the heat. A prototype

for burning garbage to produce electricity was created. It has a furnace where the burning

process produces heat, which is then transformed into electricity by conduction and

convection. Conduction transfers heat from the furnace to the aluminum plate, which is

connected to a thermoelectric generator, which turns the heat into energy. On the other

side, due to convection process; hot smoke from the furnace rises then passes through

the turbine causing it to rotate. Burning plastics can be harmful, so the researchers used

sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide to eliminate bad chemicals and have eco-

friendly chemicals when it comes out from the product.
