COURSE & SECTION: 2C BSED-ENGLISH

TITLE OF THE TOPIC: MODULE 1 – NATURE AND ROLES OF ASSESSMENT

The three (3) most significant learning that I got from the week’s session:

The three most significant topic that I learned from the last week session was all about to defined what
is testing, assessment, and evaluation. Also, through a measurement we can identify the quantity, obtain
each learner information and infer the abilities and their proficiencies. Testing in education and
psychology is an attempt to measure a person’s knowledge, intelligence or other characteristic in a
systematic way. Testing and evaluation of language skills are very important components of language
teaching. Testing becomes an integral part of teaching because it provides significant information or
inputs about the growth and achievement of learner’s difficulties styles of learning. However,
assessment is the process of documenting knowledge, skills, attitude and beliefs, usually in measurable
terms. Its goal is to make improvements, as opposed to simple being judged. In an educational setting,
assessment is the process of a describing, collecting, recording, scoring and interpreting information
about learning. Thus, evaluation is the process of judgement of learning through a criteria or rubrics.
Today, we know learning requires that the learner engage in problem-solving to actively build mental
models. Knowledge is attained not just by receiving information but also by interpreting the information
and relating it to the learner’s knowledge base. Therefore, it is very important to let as a future educator
to evaluate progress in our learners someday and to set higher standards measurement.
