LEARNING OF THE WEEK

REACTION PAPER NO. 5

NAME: DUA, ALTHEA ALVA DEANNE C. DATE: DECEMBER 21, 2022

COURSE & YEAR: 2C BSED-ENGLISH

TITLE OF THE TOPIC: MODULE 5- Large-Scale Student Assessment

The three (3) most significant learning that I got from the week’s session:

During the last session, we tackled a topic about the nature of the Large-Scale
Assessment. For reporting results at the group level, large-scale assessments typically rely on
sampling techniques, employ sampling weights and replication methods, and use item response
theory for scale score calculation. Educational accountability, in which either the system or
individuals within it are held accountable for the performance of students, frequently uses
these assessments to measure student achievement. Large-scale assessment has been referred
has been referred to in the literature using different terms: System-wide Assessment, Standard
Testing, Certification Testing, Large-scale Annual Assessment.

Both the LSA and CBA tools' contents are in line with the curriculum and particular
learning outcomes. The intended learning outcomes within the context of subject matter areas
in the prescribed school curriculum serve as the primary source of test content because
assessment of learning is the primary purpose of student assessment. LSA intends to collect
data from regions of a country's target schools; Its primary concern is keeping an eye on how
well students are doing subjects like reading, writing, and math. In a similar vein, CBA aims to
accomplish the same thing, but only within a class that uses the intended learning outcomes for
a period of instruction.

Some key steps of Large-Scale assessment are Step 1: Defining Objectives, Step 2: Item
Development Committees, Step 3: Writing and Reviewing Questions, Step 4: The Pretest, Step
5: Detecting and Removing Unfair Questions, Step 6: Assembling the Test. Also, the degree to
which a set of test results can be understood is known as test validity. Test validity is essential
in educational and psychological testing, where accuracy and importance are paramount.
Criterion validity, content validity, and construct validity are among the various types of validity
that are included in test validity. The overall test validity is high if a research project scores well
in these areas.
