Hello class, today I will talk about the international committee of the red
cross organization (ICRC)

Was founded on 17 February 1863 in Geneva by John Henry Dunant, a swiss

businessman after being touched by the intense suffering and neglect of
wounded soldiers of the battle of Solferino, North Italy in 1859. So Dunant
devoted his time, his talent and his money to help wounded soldiers.

The red cross is an independent, Non-Governmental International

Organization, concerned to offering humanitarian assistance, like offers
relief and rehabilitation services to the people that was injured in a war
but also to the people affected in famine, earthquake, floods and others.
They are 18 thousand people working in more than 90 countries helping
people that are affected because of the violence and disasters.

The ICRC’s principal services are: Disaster Management Service (DMS)

that has the responsibility of conducting relief operation for disaster
victims. Social Service promotes welfare through guidance and counselling,
communication, health and welfare report to the community . Safety
Services (SS) does training on basic first aid, swimming, and cardio-
pulmonary resuscitation. It also does training how to rescue victims trapped
inside tall buildings with fire or earthquake. National Blood Service (NBS)
In this Program, we get blood from voluntary donors and also give them to
patients that need. Red Cross blood is free. Community Health and Nurse
Services Is a program where Red Cross Members go to areas where they
do check-ups like medical, dental and others.

The red cross have seven fundamental principles which they are Humanity,
Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and
Universality.

I choose the red cross because I think it’s an important organization that
takes pride in helping others no matter where they are located, and I think
that is very good to people. And also because it’s an organization that travel
a lot.
