3. Consider a cylindrical furnace with r 0 =H=1m as shown in the figure below. The top (surface 1) and
the base (surface 2) of the furnace has emissivities 1 =0.8 and 2 =0.4, respectively and are maintained
at uniform temperatures T 1 =700 K and T 2 =500K. The side surface closely approximates a blackbody
and is maintained at a temperature of T 3 =400K.

B. (15pts) Calculate the radiosity for each surface, J 1, J 2 and J 3 , in W/m2 .
