Purdue University and Raytheon Technologies Corporation Partnership Signing

Prior Proper Planning

Good morning and welcome!

Incoming President Chiang and I would like to welcome everyone to Purdue University and
beautiful, snowy West Lafayette, Indiana.

Purdue University strives to provide the finest education and prepare our graduates for success
after graduation, both personally and professionally, and I’d say we’ve done so successfully for
many years. I’m talking about our deans, faculty, professors, and everyone that makes Purdue
great. Many of us may have heard the phrase “Prior Proper Planning Prevents Poor
Performance.” We take this to heart here.

Prior proper planning means providing our students with the courses they need to develop the
skills and knowledge needed for internships and lifelong careers in their industry. These courses
challenge our students to be free-thinkers and voice their ideas and opinions.

Prior proper planning means providing our students with the relationships and expertise from
industry to mentor them and mold them into successful and prepared professionals.

Prior proper planning means prioritizing academic and professional success for our students
through integrating the arts, business, and STEM in all our coursework.

Purdue University isn’t the only part of the equation that prioritizes education and preparation
though. Purdue’s industry partners are a vital piece of the equation. In fact, today marks a special
day for Purdue University and Raytheon Technologies Corporation. Raytheon Technologies, one
of the world's largest aerospace and defense manufacturers, has committed 4 million dollars to
Purdue University for a named chair position in our reimagined School of Business, furthering
their relationship with the university with student success in mind. Raytheon Technologies has
long supported Purdue University and is a top employer for our graduates.

Incoming President Chiang and I believe that Purdue and Raytheon Technologies both have their
eyes on the future, and we share an interest in cultivating well-rounded leaders. Our goal is to
prepare and develop a world-class business school through this relaunch that develops leaders at
the intersection of business and technology who can create growth and make breakthroughs.

Thank you, Greg Hayes, CEO of Raytheon Technologies, for being here today, and thank you to
all of Raytheon Technologies Corporation for the continued support to Purdue University. With
your industry expertise and support, Purdue University will continue to provide the most
prepared and successful graduates.

Thank you all for attending! Boiler Up!
