ACTIVITY 2.

5:

The “who says” by selena gomez talks about the message of the song is to accept ourselves for who we
are and forget all the haters out there. Based on this line "I'm no beauty queen. I'm just beautiful me."
it's like we don't need to be perfect just like the definition of being a beauty queen. We don't need to
pretend to be someone, we just need to be ourselves. We need to accept ourselves for who we are so
that people will accept us too. This line "You've got every right. To a beautiful life." means that we have
all rights to live in this beautiful life. We don't need to hide from the dark or for being lonely because we
are afraid to not be accepted by others. You have the right to be happy, we all have the right to be
happy in this beautiful life. In this "Who says you don't pass the test. Who says you can't be the best."
For me, it's like who you are to tell me that I can't do what I want and I'm not the best? no one can
underestimate my strength. Since I know to myself that I can. Also, based on what I have read on
websites Selena wrote this song for those who bullied her before when she is in elementary school.
That's the reason why she wrote this song to tell everyone that no matter what you look like you need
to be accepted. Then the Otherhand “All I want” by Olivia Rodrigo The first boy is illustrated as a loving
yet deceptive boy. Then, the relationship she has had with the second boy is “unreciprocated love”.
Here, the singer is asserting that ‘all she wants’, i.e. her only longing, is to maintain a relationship that is
actually long-term. Therefore, the essential notion behind this track is Olivia’s yearning to confront a
passionate friend to grow together. However, she has already realized through her past experiences,
that this point isn’t easy to obtain. The singer lays out all of her insecurities after her two relationship
failures in the chorus section of the song. All she’s ever wanted to have is the kind of love that actually
lasts. She wonders if it is just too much to ask. The singer questions the practicality of her expectations.
She goes as far as to asking herself if anything is wrong with herself. No, Olivia, nothing is wrong with
you! You’re perfect, just the way you are. In the end, she realizes that she has herself for her but she is
confused if she is enough for herself.

The anaphora that used in “Who Says” is who says by the phrase of “Who says, who says you're not
perfect? Who says you're not worth it? Who says you're the only one that's hurtin'? Trust me, that's the
price of beauty Who says you're not pretty?Who says you're not beautiful?, Who says?” and the phrase
“Who says you're not star potential? Who says you're not presidential? Who says you can't be in
movies? Listen to me, listen to me Who says you don't pass the test? Who says you can't be the best?
Who said, who said? Would you tell me who said that? Yeah, who said?”. While the “All I want” is the
word All I want by the phrase of “All I want is love that lasts, Is all I want too much to ask? Is it
something wrong with me? Oh, All I want is a good guy, Are my expectations far too high? Try my best
but what can I say All I have is myself at the end of the day And all I want is for that to be okay”.

Both gives its deep meaning and it’s clearly that they want to convey the story. Both give its deep
meaning, and it’s very clear what they want to deliver the message of the song. Using anophora in both
songs has the effect of engaging your audience in a particular emotional experience. It works by allowing
your reader or listener to participate in the process. By anticipating the next line, which is really easy
because the beginning of the line is the same each time, you participate in the work itself, especially in
the chorus. It's easy to memorize and it's very remarkable for the listeners of the song.
