December 31, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the end of our Christmas break, we wish to take this opportunity to add
our best wishes for the festive season to all members of the BATCE family and to
remind you all that despite the changes and challenges of 2020 that we all remember “I
can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). Let us all
also consider the sentiments of The Archbishop of Canterbury's (The Most Reverend
and Right Honourable Justin Welby) Christmas letter to ecumenical leaders and
churches around the world:
“However, as I look around the world and through the world’s history it is clear
that the celebration of the incarnation is always grounded in our
acknowledgement that the world is fragile and suffering. Our Lord was born in
our fallen world and it is in his birth, death and resurrection that we find hope.
People face sickness, war, displacement and poverty every day and, in joy and
suffering alike, the birth of Christ is marked and celebrated as a constant
reminder of our salvation.”
We must also record our thanks and admiration for the collective efforts of all members
of our staff for the stability they have brought to our schools during the last two terms. In
the most challenging circumstances, we have managed to ensure quality teaching and
learning has continued in a ‘blended’ learning arrangement.

As we prepare for the new academic term and calendar year we ask that you note the
following –

(1) We will be resetting MS Teams passwords for our students and as such parents
will begin receiving new sign-in credentials via email from Monday January 04,
2021.

(2) Students will be required to access their MS Teams profiles by Wednesday 06,
January so that they may reacclimatize themselves to the platform.

(3) From Wednesday 06 – Friday 08, students will be engaged in various learning
activities that will be posted by their form teachers. This will include topics such
as:
 Health and wellness
 Self-directed learning
 Learning in an online environment
 Student leadership – understanding student leadership, students’ council
and prefect bodies, the importance of the student voice, etc.

(4) During this period (04- 06 January) teachers will also be posting asynchronous
activities for students.

(5) ALL students will be required to participate in and complete our BATCE Student

forwarded via email.

(7) All staff will be involved in training and preparation from 04-08 January 2021 so
that we are better equipped to serve our stakeholders during the New Year.

(8) Official classes will resume for all students on Monday 11, January 2021.

(9) Information will be shared with our fifth form and sixth form parents and students
before the end of January on how we intend to resume face-to-face teaching and

forward to an invigorating 2021. Happy New Year and God’s blessings to you and
