REFLECTION 2

In artifact one, a poem, there was the use of emotive language and imagery where the poet
appealed to emotions “It hits me hard, I cannot cope, so I drink until I start to choke.” The use
of imagery allows the listener to visualize what is happening.

In artifact two, a poem, there was the use of a rhetorical question which was “How can that
be so wrong?”. That was used to engage the readers in an internal dialogue with themselves.

In artifact three, an article, there was the use of informative language; and a formal tone was
used in this piece “research, he noted, has shown that negative parenting contributes
significantly to the use and abuse of drugs by youngsters”. The use of this language made the
article easier to interpret and highlighted the message the writer was trying to get across
which was drug abuse among students.
