PRAYER FOR COMMUNITY HEALING AND FOR THE SOUL OF NOEL CHRISTE

SANTOS, JR.

Opening Hymn: Dakilang Pag-ibig (Hontiveros, SJ)

REFRAIN
Dakilang Pag-ibig, saan man manahan,
Diyos ay naroon, walang alinlangan.

Tinipon tayo sa pagmamahal

ng ating Poong si Hesus.
Tayo’y lumigaya sa pagkakaisa
sa Haring nakapako sa Krus.

GREETINGS

L – In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

All – Amen.

L – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has bestowed
on us in Christ the light of his mercy and grace. Glory to the Father, and to the
Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

All – As it was in the beginning is now and will be for ever. Amen.

INTRODUCTION

L – My dear brethren, we are gathered together to pray for our community for the
gift of healing. Our pains and sorrows due to the death of our beloved brother
Noel Christe Jr. is an invitation for all of us to look over the value of life.
Remembering him in our prayers, let us entrust his soul in the hands of Almighty
God. We also ask the light of the Holy Spirit to enlighten us and give us strength
in these trying times.

OPENING PRAYER

L – Let us pray.

Merciful Father, hear our prayers and console us. As we renew our
faith in Your Son, whom You raised from the dead, strengthen our hope that our
departed brother, Noel Christe Jr., will share in His resurrection, who lives and
reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

All – Amen.
LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading – Romans 8:9, 11-13

His Spirit dwells within you.

A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans

Brothers and sisters, your existence is not in the flesh, but

in the spirit, because the Spirit of God is within you. If you
did not have the Spirit of Christ, you would not belong to
him.
And, if the Spirit of him, who raised Jesus from the
dead, is within you, he, who raised Jesus Christ from
among the dead, will also give life to your mortal bodies.
Yes, he will do it, through his Spirit, who dwells within you.
Then, brothers, let us leave the flesh and no longer live
according to it. If not, we will die. Rather, walking in the
spirit, let us put to death the body’s deeds, so that we may
live.

The word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 103

R/. The Lord is kind and merciful.

1. Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all my being bless his holy name. Bless the
LORD, O my soul; and forget not all his benefits.

2. Merciful and gracious is the LORD, slow to anger and abounding in kindness. As
a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those
who fear him.

3. But the kindness of the LORD is from eternity to eternity toward those who fear
him. And his justice towards children’s children among those who keep his
covenant.

ALLELUIA VERSE

Alleluia, Alleluia.
Everyone who loves is begotten of God and knows God.
Alleluia, Alleluia.
Holy Gospel – John 10:11-18

I am the Good Shepherd.

+ A reading from the holy Gospel according to John

Jesus said:
“I am the good shepherd.
A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
A hired man, who is not a shepherd
and whose sheep are not his own,
sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away,
and the wolf catches and scatters them.
This is because he works for pay and has no concern for
the sheep.
I am the good shepherd,
and I know mine and mine know me,
just as the Father knows me and I know the Father;
and I will lay down my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold.
These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice,
and there will be one flock, one shepherd.
This is why the Father loves me,
because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own.
I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again.
This command I have received from my Father.”

The Gospel of the Lord.

A short homily may be given during this time or a sacred silence may be observed.
GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

L – God, the Father almighty, raised Jesus from the dead and he will give life to
our own mortal bodies. We pray to him in faith, we trust to him in hope, and we
ask him in love as we say:

LORD, BRING US TO LIFE IN CHRIST.

1. Holy Father, we have been buried with your Son in baptism to rise with him in
glory; may we always live in Christ and not see death for ever. We pray.

2. Father, you have given us the living bread from heaven to be eaten with faith and
love; grant that we may have eternal life and be raised up on the last day. We
pray.

3. Lord, when your Son was in agony you sent an angel to console him; at the hour
of our death take away all fear and fill our heart with hope. We pray.

4. You delivered the three young men from the blazing furnace; free the souls of the
dead, especially Noel Christe Santos, Jr., from the punishments their sins have
deserved. We pray.

5. God of the living and the dead, you brought Jesus back to life; give our Bedan
Community the gift of healing in this time of grief, so that we may find in your Son
our consolation and hope of glory. We pray.

L – Let our prayer come into your presence, Lord, as we humbly ask for mercy:
and as in your love you counted your servant Noel Christe Jr. among your people
in this world, so bring him now to the abode of peace and light, and number him
among your chosen ones. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.

All – Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER

L – Jesus taught us to call God our Father and so we have the courage to say.

All – Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

PRAYER FOR COMMUNITY HEALING

Lord, we are in pain.

Lord, our hearts are full of sorrow.

But, You, O Lord, reminded us that only in you we

could find healing.

We open our hearts to your promptings, O Lord.

Lord, help us to see that this painful event is but a

reminder for us to live our life to the fullness of your
grace and truth.

Help us to value Life in all its forms and experiences:

the afflictions and our victories.
We consecrate ourselves to your love and mercy.

We dedicate ourselves to the school of your holy service.

Visit us, O Lord, we pray and heal our broken hearts.

Touch us with your healing and may we feel this as we walk with you, our Lord
and God who loves us all.

Mother Mary, be with us in this moment of pain.

As you gaze in your Son Jesus on the Cross, may this event help us to reflect our
mistakes that we may be able to amend it.

Mother Mary, teach us to live and love each other as a community bound to pray
and work.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the
beginning is now and will be forever. Amen.

Eternal Rest grant unto him, O Lord.

And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
Amen.

May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

PRAYER FOR COMMUNITY CLEANSING

L – Let us pray.

Visit this place, O Lord, and drive far from it all snares of the enemy; let
your holy angels dwell with us to preserve us in peace and healing; and let your
blessing be upon us always; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All – Amen.

CONCLUDING PRAYER

L – Let us pray.

God, all-compassionate,
ruler of the living and the dead,
you know beforehand
those whose faithful lives reveal them as your own.
We pray for those who belong to this present world
and for those who have passed to the world to come:
grant them pardon for all their sins.
We ask you graciously to hear our prayer
through the intercession of all the Saints
and for your mercy’s sake.
For you are God, for ever and ever.

All – Amen.

BLESSING

A minister who is a priest or deacon says:

L – May the peace of God,

which is beyond all understanding,
keep your hearts and minds in the
knowledge and love of God
and of his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

All – Amen.

L – May almighty God bless you,

the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy
Spirit.

All – Amen.

A lay minister invokes God’s blessing and signs

himself or herself with the sign of the cross,
saying:

L – May the love of God and the peace of

the Lord Jesus Christ
bless and console us
and gently wipe every tear from our eyes:
in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.

All – Amen.

or with sacred silence. A hymn for the
Blessed Virgin Mary may be sung as well.
