Question (6): (40 Marks)
A old factory consists of one story as shown in the next figure with 8.0 m spans.
The slab th. was 28 cm with 42 cm drop panel. The client wants to add 4 new
floors and also increase L.L of the exisiting floor from 500 kg/m2 to be 1000
kg/m2. It is required to check the marked elements on plan of the factory to
carry the added loads from this modification as follows:

n Check the status of the two columns mentioned in plan to carry the new
floors ( safe or not) (4Marks)

n Check the status of the footings mentioned in plan to carry the new loads
( safe or not) (4Marks)

n Advise the client about your recommendation to modify the factory for
the clouded columns and footings show all available alternatives to solve
this issue. ( we need only sketches)

n Suggest the suitable enginerring solution to solve any structural problem

for the two mentioned locations of columns and footing only. ( need
calculation and sketch ) (16 Marks)

n For the existing roof and due to increase of L.L the marked locations show
in slab was subjected to an increase of 26.5% for positive moment location
from the original moments. Its required to take an actions for this issue
( need calculation and sketch ) (8 Marks)

Using Data:
- Fcu = 300 kg/cm2 and Fy= 4000 kg/cm2
- Soil bearing capacity = 1.75 kg/cm2.
- L.L= 1000 kg/m2, flooring 250 kg/m2 and no internal wall
- H floor = 3.25 m b wall = 25 cm wall density = 1.8 t/m3

- Column type C1 --- 30*60 cm has 10T16 vertical reinforcement with 6R8/m
stirrups
- Column type C5 --- 70*70 cm has 32T16 vertical reinforcement with 8R8/m
