 Definition of narrative
Narrative is a text focusing specific participant it’s social function is to tell stories of past
and entertain the rider generic structure narrative :
1.orientation : introducing the participant and informing the time, figure and the place
(pembuka/penjelasan)
2.complication : describing the rising crisis which the participants
3.resolution : showing the way of participants to solve the crisis better of worse (pemecah
masalah)

The language feature of narrative

1. Using process verb
2. Using temporal conjuctation
3. Using simple past tense
 LEGEND TIMUN MAS

Once upon a time, there was a window who lived alone, because there was no one on her
side, she fel and dreamed of the presence of a child. In the small village, she say at
heart”when I have a child, I tired of live alone”.. And she thinks to call BUTO IJO.
Widow: It has been a long time I haven’t got a child, Last minnner is call buto ijo.
(She clacks his hand, and buto ijo is coming)
Buto ijo: ha..ha..ha…ha…ha…..!! Why you called me??
Widow: I have one request to you it has been a long time I haven’t a child. Can you help me?
Buto ijo: of course, but I have one prerequirement for you!
Widow: what is?
Buto ijo: If you have a child, you must give me if your child grows up.
Widow: OK!!!

Buto ijo: This a seeds cucumber. And if cucumber already ripe, pick them and crack it and
You have a new child
Widow: Thanks

Two weeks passed and the cucumber started to bear fruits, and there was one which was
large and shined like gold. The widow pickad the large cucumber and splitted it carefully and
it appeared that there was a cute baby was named Timun mas. And as the time goes, timun
mas grow up. Buto ijo goes to timun mas hut and he dun timun mas widow promise.

Buto ijo: where is your child??

Widow: She goes to play with her friend
Buto ijo: Don’t lie! You must keep your promise!
Widow: But she really plays with her friend!!
Buto ijo: OK… but you must call your child now!!
Widow: ye…yeah!!

Few minutes later, in timun mas friend’s home

Widow: Timun mas.. I want say important matter to you!

Timun mas: What is mom?
Widow: Actually, before you were born, I have one promise to buto ijo
Timun mas: Who is buto ijo?

Widow: He is evil giant who help me to have a child and I make a promise to him when you
grow up, I must give you to him. Now you must run far from here and I give you four small
package contaid cucumber seeds, needles, salt and terasi. I will pray for you safety from the
giant

Next mother say to buto ijo

Widow: Buto ijo…. Timun mas not in anywhere
Buto ijo: Don’t lie again (afterwards, buto ijo look timun mas) There is timun mas! Don’t
run!!
Widow: Run timun mas… Run!!! Buto ijo overtake timun mas…

He chased her. When she was almost caught, she dispersed the cucumber seeds from the
package and they suddenly became cucumber field. He was interested in eating the
cucumber. Then she was almost caught she dispersed the needles from the package that
became bamboo field. His feet were wounded and bled pricked by the bamboos. Yet he
didn’t give up and kept chasing her. Finally, she dispersed the terasi from the package.
Suddenly appeared boiling sea mud, and finally he was dead. With the dead of the giant,
Timun mas could live happily with her mother.
 Terjemahan Teks Story Telling Timun Mas

Sekali waktu, ada seorang janda yang tinggal sendirian, karena tidak ada seorang pun di
sisinya, dia merasa dan memimpikan kehadiran seorang anak. Di desa kecil, dia berbicara
didalam hati “Ketika saya punya anak, saya lelah hidup sendiri “.. Dan dia berpikir untuk
memanggil Buto IJO.
Janda : Sudah lam aku tidak punya anak, minnner terakhir adalah panggilan Buto Ijo.
(Dia Clacks tangannya, dan buto ijo akan datang)
Buto ijo : ha .. ha … ha … ha ….! ! Mengapa Anda menelepon saya?
Janda : Saya punya satu permintaan ke anda sudah lama aku tidak punya anak. Dapatkah
Anda membantu saya?
Buto ijo : tentu saja, tapi aku punya satu telekomunikasi untuk Anda!
Janda : Apa itu?
Buto : Jika Anda memiliki anak, Anda harus memberikan saya jika anak Anda tumbuh.
Janda : O.K !
Buto ijo : Ini adalah mentimun biji. Dan jika mentimun sudah matang, memilih mereka dan
memecahkannya dan Anda memiliki anak yang baru.
Janda : Terima kasih

Dua minggu berlalu dan mentimun mulai berbuah, dan ada satu yang besar dan menyemir
seperti emas. Janda itu memetic ketimun besar dan membelahnya dengan hati-hati dan
ternyata ada bayi yang lucu bernama timun mas. Dan seiring berjalannya waktu, Timun Mas
tumbuh. Buto ijo pergi ke gubuk Timun Mas dan dia berjanji ke Janda.

Buto ijo : Di mana anak Anda?

Janda : Dia pergi untuk bermain dengan temannya
Buto ijo : Jangan berbohong ! Anda harus menjaga janji mu !
Janda : Tapi dia benar-benar bermain dengan temannya !
Buto ijo : O. K. .. tapi Anda harus memanggil anak Anda sekarang !
Janda : ya… yaaa!

Beberapa menit terakhir, Timun Mas di rumah temannya

Janda : Timun Mas .. Saya ingin mengatakan hal yang penting untuk Anda !
Timun Mas : Apa bu?
Janda : Sebenarnya, sebelum Anda lahir, saya punya satu janji untuk Buto ijo
Timun Mas : Siapa Buto ijo ?
Janda : Dia adalah raksasa jahat yang membantu saya untuk memiliki anak dan saya membuat
janji untuk dia Ketika Anda tumbuh, saya harus memberikan kepadanya. Sekarang Anda harus
menjalankan jauh dari sini dan saya memberikan empat paket biji kecil berisi
mentimun,jarum,garam dan terasi. Saya akan berdoa untuk keselamatan Anda dari raksasa

Selanjutnya Janda mengatakan kepada Buto ijo

Janda : Buto ijo …. Timun Mas tidak dimana saja

Buto ijo : Jangan berbohong lagi (setelah itu, Buto ijo melihat Timun Mas) Ada Timun Mas !
Jangan lari !
Janda : Jalankan Timun Mas …. Lari ! Buto ijo menyalip Timun Mas …

Dia mengejarnya. Ketika dia hampir tertangkap, ia menaburkan biji mentimun dari paket dan
mereka tiba-tiba menjadi kebun mentimun. Dia tertarik untuk makan mentimun. Lalu ia
hampir tertangkap ia menaburkan jarum dari paket yang menjadi bidang bambu. Kakinya
terluka dan tertusuk oleh bambu. Namun ia tidak menyerah dan terus mengejarnya,
kemudian dia menyebar garam dari paket dan lapangan menjadi laut. Namun ia terus
mengejarnya. Akhirnya, ia menyebar terasi dari paket. Tiba-tiba muncul lumpur laut
mendidih, dan akhirnya ia meninggal. Dengan matinya raksasa itu, Timun Mas bisa hidup
Bahagia Bersama ibunya.
