Reflection Paper

Empowerment Technology or E-Tech often deals with the use of different technologies,
such as mobile phones, phones, computers, and other devices, to locate, store, communicate and
inform. The first thing that comes to my mind when I see the image is that empowerment
technology is very important in our lives, especially the Gen- Z's. When I look at the picture, it
shows images and multimedia that represent what empowering technology is. There are also
profile pictures of random people in the world, and I think they want to suggest that
empowerment technologies make people connected to each other wherever they are.

In the first quarter, we looked at different types of Web, web 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. We have
addressed their differences, similarities, and multiple uses of each one over the entire period. I've
also learned about the six types of social media. Scanning through our topic, I have learned that
the Internet is a worldwide broadband network that connects computer systems around the globe.
It provides countless online services, some of which are updates to the web, email, social media,
online gaming, and applications. Especially when you are a student where you have access, to
unlimited information access, anything you ever imagined can be found on the internet and
learned about in detail. There are millions upon millions of websites devoted to all types of
subjects. Thanks to the internet, students are connected more than ever before.
The importance of Internet safety in between a variety of information, personal data, and
property protection is really important. It is essential for every student to use the internet safely
and securely without leaking private information and be aware of different internet threats. Our
subject teacher asked us to make a poster about online safety, security, ethics, and etiquette. It is
a by-pair work so I and my partner worked hard to think of a concept that is unique, following
the instruction and creating a clear visual presentation.
I have also learned about advanced word processing skills which is the mail merge. For
me, it is important to learn about this topic because it is a technique that you can use without
consuming all of your time in a day. Best use when printing bulk files especially invitations,
certificates and etc. It has two components which are the formal document where you can see the
formal letter you want to convey and the list of the data file which is done in Microsoft Excel.
Learning how Microsoft Excel works was a fun experience, at first, I was anxious I couldn't do
the task, but with the help of my friend, I've been able to learn how to handle it for a short time.
Our subject teacher also asked us to make a mail merge, we are tasked to create a letter for Math
and Science Olympics with 20 recipients that needed in a data file format. I did not have a hard
time doing it and I also help my friends how to properly do it.
The lesson about the basic principles, elements of graphics, and layout were easy for me
because I already have an idea about it and it is also learned in different subject. I recall creating
an infographic using a Piktochart. We are again, tasked to create an infographic showcasing the
tourist spots in our local community. I think thoroughly about the fonts and color schemes and
icons that I will use in making the infographics because it is under our lessons in the principle of
web designing.

The second quarter came, and the first time I saw the modules and scanned the task, I was
so overwhelmed. I have experienced many first times' with this subject and the most memorable
one for me is blog making. I don't have a single idea of how to make a blog, but I've managed to
make one, a very good one, with the help of the instructions from the teacher, modules provided,

and from my group mates. Our blog focused on The Philippine Cultural Heritage. The title of our
blog is “The Past for the Future” with our tagline Maintain cultural diversities for future
identities. Its purpose is to bring awareness to ourselves and others (Filipinos and non-Filipinos)
about the importance of preserving our culture. I'm proud of the first website I did because I
realized that I could be creative, and I pushed myself to make our blog better. I have also learned
about multimedia and ICT as well as digital citizenship.
The last output that our subject teacher assigned us to do was to make a Facebook page
for our social campaign ICT project. We choose a topic that is relevant to today's situations. We
focused on the food poisoning campaign, the title of our page is “Redline: Food Poisoning”. Our
purpose is to raise awareness all over the world that food poisoning is a serious matter. With this
page, we would like to help people to be more knowledgeable and updated about what is
happening related to food poisoning. Our page contained an infographic about food poisoning, a
slogan, our mission and vision, and a person who shares her experience with food poisoning. We
also created a website that anyone can visit and a Change. org for a petition about cleanliness
when it comes to food. I am pleased with the results and thankful that we did it all day before
the deadline.

Overall, this semester I've learned a lot of things. It has pushed my limits to be creative
and to do more to make things better. It's been a tiring semester, but the good thing is that I've
gained experience.
