ABSTRACT: In southern Brazil, the Florianópolis Batholith (FB) results from prolonged, mainly granitic
magmatism, as part of the Neoproterozoic Dom Feliciano Belt (650-580 Ma). The early magmatic phases
in this belt are related to transpressive tectonism in post-collisional setting, where the translithospheric
discontinuities of the Southern Brazilian Shear Belt have triggered magmatism, acting as channels for
melts originated in deep crustal or mantle sources. However, the late magmatic phase (590-580 Ma) is
represented by voluminous A-type, high silica magmatism that comprises plutono-volcanic associations.
In such scenario, the Serra do Tabuleiro Granite (STG) is a syenogranite with low amounts of mafic minerals
(biotite>>hornblende) divided in three facies: equigranular, inequigranular and porphyritic; all of them
with similar mineral phases, but slightly different modal abundances. Abundant micrographic texture and
granophyric groundmass, miarolitic cavities and skeletal crystals indicate that the STG pluton was emplaced
in shallow levels of the crust. Whole rock geochemical data reveal that this granite have high silica (73-79
wt.%) and K2O+Na2O (7,47-8,88 wt.%) contents, subalkaline affinity and is slightly peraluminous. Considering
the classification of A-type granites, it is similar to post-collisional A2 type granites with enrichment in LILE
and LREE, with high Th/Ta and Y/Nb ratios, indicating a mostly crustal source for these rocks. Trace element
analysis reveals a long history of magmatic fractionation in the STG, denoted by the negative Eu anomalies
that generate the typical seagull pattern and the high Rb/Sr and Rb/Ba ratios, pointing out the fractionation
of feldspars on the source. Despite some mantle contribution is indicated by the scarce occurrence of mafic
microgranular enclaves, the high degree of magmatic fractionation and the high contents of LILE and
LREE do not allow to link this granite to pure mantle sources and attest a large crustal contribution as the
main source. Field relations and geochronological data attest the contemporaneity of the STG with other
similar magmatism in the FB, as the Ilha Granite and Cambirela volcanic rocks (ignimbrites and rhyolites).
Moreover, the resemblances in mineralogy, textures and geochemical and isotopic signatures identified in
all those igneous bodies allow us to group them in the Cambirela Plutono-Volcanic Suite, interpreted as a
shallow level plutono-volcanic system that represents the late stages of the FB magmatism.
