VARIABLES

In Mathematics, a variable is an
alphabet or term that represents an
unknown number or unknown value or
unknown quantity. The variables are
specially used in the case of algebraic

x+9=4 is a linear equation where x is a
MATHEMATICS variable, where 9 and 4 are constants.

express an unknown number using the
term ‘x’ and ‘y’. But this is not particular,

ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION

An algebraic expression (or) a

variable expression is a combination of
terms by the operations such as addition,
subtraction, multiplication, division, etc.
For example, let us have a look at the
expression 5x + 7. We can say that 5x + 7
is an example of an algebraic expression.
