 INTRODUCTION TO LEOISM

Leo club is a youth organization of Lions Club International. The acronym L.E.O stands for Leadership,
Experience, and Opportunity. The Leo Club objective is, to provide the youth of the world with an
opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of
the local, national and international community. Leo Club encourages the youth to develop leadership
qualities by participating in social service activities. They are dependent on a Lions Club to sponsor and
initiate a Leo Club. Leo Club members are addressed as “Leos”. They conduct various projects in the
field of health care, elders, children, differently abled, literacy, and education, and self-development.
LEO Club is the largest youth club of voluntary characters in the world, present in 150 countries with
over 160,000 members.

“Leadership, Experience, Opportunity.” That’s what makes a Leo. Leos are devoted young people who
realize the power of action. The innovative insights of Leos have given the Leo movement the best
image from the community. We have successfully served the world for decades.
Leo District 306 C1 sponsored by Lions Clubs International, District 306C1, Sri Lanka runs covering Six
Sri
Lankan body Districts namely, Colombo, Kandy, Kegalle, Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee District.
Our District consists of 4 Regions, 8 Zones and 28 Leo Clubs with more than 1200 Leos.
The Leoistic Year 2021-22 306 C1 is led by Leo Mandakini Kariyawasam.

INTRODUCTION TO THE PROJECT
Victoria Home for Incurables is located at Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte. A
parliament act establishes it in the year 1890. Currently, more than 150 patients
are receiving treatment from home. Management of the Victoria Home has
requested a program that helps to release stress and build the mental stability
of the patients. According to their suggestion, we decided to have an evening
musical event and give them a special snack at the Victoria Home premises.

 OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

Main objective:-

To implement an evening musical event that helps to release stress and build the mental stability of patients of
Victoria Home.

Other objectives:-

To enhance the unity of leos of Region 1, Zone 1 by giving an excellent opportunity to work with leos of clubs
within the zone level.
To identify and introduce new energetic Leo members to the district by giving them the duties and
responsibilities of this zone project.
To give practical knowledge in planning and implementation of an influential zone project.
To entertain Leos and the management staff of Victoria Home, except patients.

 INTRODUCTION TO VICTORIA HOME

The Victoria Home was started on 13th March 1888 and was established by Ordinance No. 7 of
1903. This institution is a charitable institution that provides residential and healthcare facilities
to terminally ill patients. This Institute has been designed to provide services to about 187 patients at a
time.
A Board of Governors governs the Institute, as the present Board of Governors,

 PROJECT PLAN

Senehase sandawa’ project will be conducted on 26 th of January at the Victoria Home Rajagiriya. We
have planned on spending an enjoyable evening with our dear ones. A beautiful musical event is
organized by our Leos and we will also give refreshments to the crowd. Musical event will be for three
hours. A Calypso band would be giving music. Hoppers and a tea will be given to the crowd as
refreshments.
