natural that they attract tourists to the area bringing some economic value.
2. Places close to volcanic tend to have higher potential for geothermal energy, which can
be advantage to the towns and cities.
3. Some ash and lava breakdown become soils that are rich in nutrients and become good
areas for crop and planting.
Negative

1. Eruption occurring close to human settlement may kill and destroy lives and property.
People often have to be evacuated.
2. Ash discharge may high into stratosphere can have negative consequences on the ozone
layer.
3. Landscape and natural sceneries can be destroyed.
4. Ash and mud can mix with rain and melting snow, forming lahar. Lahars are mudflow
flowing at very fast pace.
Signs

1. Increase frequency of volcanic earthquake, and tremours


2. Glowing of crater at night due to magma build up near or on the crater itself.
3. Coming out of steam at times with ash from the main vent or fissures around the
volcano.
4. Swelling up of land in the vicinity of the volcano due to magma flow underneath.
5. Mass movement of debris and rocks from volcano without the pressure of water or
moisture from rain.
6. Drying of vegetation around the volcano.
7. Increase in temperature of hot spring and crater lakes.
8. Drying of wells near or around the volcano due to increase in temperature.
