Pre-Installation Guide

MCR Rheometers

To ensure a smooth installation of you MCR Rheometer, there are some points to check from
the following checklist.
This list is made for MCR Rheometers with air bearing motors, in doubt get in contact with your
local Rheology specialist.

1 Hardware
A stabile, possible vibration free, table or lab bench to place the
instrument.
The instrument requires a space of WxHxD: 50 cm x 80 cm x 65
cm
Please notice that a PC next to the instrument is required as
well. Further accessories or devices (like a thermostat) need to
be considered also.

Clean and dry air according to ISO 8573.1


Requirements:
MCR xx2e class 1.3.1
An air filter and dryer can be purchased
additionally
MCR x2 class 1.6.1 (Air filter and dryer included)
Pressure 6 bar (MCR xx2e from 5 to 10 bar; MCR
x2 from 4 to 7 bar)

One of the following air-connectors is required, if no compressor is purchased (without the additional filter):

Recommended: Standard Quick connection coupling


Type 26 G ¼ inch a DN=7

Quick connection
6 mm for MCR xx2e or 8 mm for MCR x2

enough power supply sockets for the instrument (1), PC (2) and possible other equipment (like a thermostat)

PC (if not included in the offer)


The computer used for the RheoCompass needs to meet at least the recommended
specifications listed below.
- Microsoft Windows™: Supported versions 7, 8.x, 10 (64bit)
- Intel™ i5, 2.67 GHz or higher
- 8 GB RAM or more
- SSD with min. 240 GB disc space is highly recommended

If a thermostat is used, a suitable coolant is required


Options:
- mixture of water (distilled, deionized or drinking water) and coolant with anti-corrosion properties (60:40)
The water should not contain chlorine or additional minerals
- ready mixed cooling liquids or oils (available from Anton Paar as well)
- pure water, even distilled one, is not allowed

If an own thermostat is used, the connections should fit the ones of the rheometer, which
are:
Rectus 21 KB (coupling) and 21 SB (plug)

2 Software
RheoCompass was installed according to the recommendations of the product specialist or according to the
getting started manual

Or

Administration rights on the PC where RheoCompass shall be installed

Additionally recommended:

Having an IT/Admin colleague around, who can assist with IT related questions
