I. INTRODUCTION

In PWC of Davao-Basic Education Department it is a facility that practice a learning by

doing to encourage learners to become independent and have a capacity to cooperate. The
teaching methods aims to equip students by developing and improving their characteristics,
behavior, attitude and relationships as they go forward and meet the main field. The school
enhances the variety of motivational and knowledge as they develop. It is this balanced and
values based training that will shape learners as well-balanced people prepared for the
challenges of life.

What is Field Study?

A field study is a type of learning where the students could learn from the field. It is a
method of collecting data based on the observation. It also provided opportunities to the
students to extend their knowledge through observation and experiences. As a FS Student it
is a great opportunity to have this kind of learning because my knowledge and
understanding would not only base on the classroom setting. Through field studies, it gives
an opportunity to develop critical thinking and have a long-term retention that might be used
in the field.

III. LEARNING TASK

1. Observe the teaching materials used by the teacher in the classroom. Describe some key

features of the teaching materials used and describe its relevance to what is taught in the

classroom.

Kinds of Learning Resources/Materials

Relevance to Classroom Use
Used in the Classroom
1.Books 1. To guide the teacher in their lessons.

2.PPT 2. To present the lesson visually and

precisely.
3.MSteam

3. They use this tool to have their

communication through voice call or video

call.

4.Laptop/Cellphone
4. The device they use to connect with their

students.

2. Analyze the class you observed, in what level of technology integration do you think the

teacher operated? Why?

-As I observed, the level of technology integration is at entry level. Because the teacher only

use the technology tool to deliver the content and discuss his/her lesson to the students

3. Describe the learning environment in the class that you observed? Point your observations

and justify your answer.

- As I observed, the learning environment of the students is at their own home and also have

control on their own path or pace of learning. It is also safe to use online learning
environment if the students are effectively impose and manage the moderate use of gadgets

to avoid the risk of exposing the students of too much radiation.

4. Based on your observations, how can you effectively facilitate student-centered learning to

challenging students for them to become reflective and independent learners through

innovative and purposeful use of educational media and technology integration in the

classroom?

- Base on my observation, the teacher use modular learning. This Process challenged the

teacher and the students through this, it will facilitate the students by themselves that uses

self-learning.

5. Prepare a semi-detailed lesson. Choose one topic discussed during your online observation.

Philippine Women’s College

Lesson Plan in Mathematics- Grade8

I.C. Perform the basic operation of integers.

I. Objectives
At the end the 60minutes period, the students will be able to:
1. Solve two term integers problem involving multiplication of
integers and
2. Explain the concept in multiplying integers.
3. Appreciate the important concept of multiplying in real life
situation.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Multiplication of integers.
Concept: When multiplying two integers with the same sign, the product
is positive.
When multiplying two integers with different signs, the product is negative.
(+)(+)=(+) (-)(+)=(-)
(-)(-)=(+) (+)(-)=(-)
Values: Accuracy
Materials: Flashcard, pictures, chipboard, chips graphic organizer

III. Procedure
A. Classroom Routine
B. Review
Drill: show flashcard of multiplying whole numbers
a. What’s the product of 7x9?
b. What’s the product of 9x8?
c. What’s the product of (11)(3)?
C. Motivation
1. Start off by asking the following:
    a. is love a positive or a negative thing?
    b. Is hate a positive or a negative thing?
This assumes that based on the students’ experience of love and hate,
they will be able to identify that love is a positive thing and that hate is
a negative thing. [LOVE = positive (+) and HATE = negative (-) ]

2. Proceed to ask the following questions:

    a. If you love to love, simply put, do you love or do you hate?
    b. If you hate to hate, simply put, do you love or do you hate?
    c. If you love to hate, simply put, do you love or do you hate?
    d. If you hate to love, simply put, do you love or do you hate?
The students should be able to identify that:
    a. If you love to love, you LOVE (a + and a + = +)
    b. If you hate to hate, you LOVE (a – and a – = +)
    c. If you love to hate, you HATE (a + and a – = –)
    d. If you hate to love, you HATE (a – and a + = –)
3. Make the connection that similar to the analogy:
    a. positive x positive = positive,
    b. negative x negative = positive,
    c. positive x negative = negative,
    d. negative x positive = negative.
D. Lesson Proper
1. State the topic and objectives of the session
2. Introduce method: show different example of multiplication
problem.
a) What do you observe of the examples?
b) How do you determine the sign of the product when you
are multiplying integers with two the same sign? With two
different signs?
c) How it is true when multiplying integers with two the
same sign, the product will be positive? When multiplying
integers with different sign, the product will be negative?
d) Does the changing of orders affect the sign of your
answer?
3. Show IM: Integers Multiplication clipboard with colored chips.
a) Divide the class into two and provide IM and worksheet.

IV. Beliefs on Teaching and Learning

In the field of education, we can teach the specific content to the students in different
form of teaching process. As long as we can assure that the students itself can reach the
learning objectives. Learning beliefs refers to one’s subjective assessment of a relationship
between learning and one’s values or attributes, which means that everyone is capable of
learning. Learning happens best when student-teacher relationships are based on mutual
trust and respect.

As a teacher we must believe the capability and skills of the students because they need
opportunities to engage in higher order thinking and reflection about learning. When the
students involve in the subject they can easily adapt and understand the content. We
believe that students learn best when the classroom and school environment support their
emotional, social, cultural and educational needs and when the learning is authentic. For
example, your topic is all about values education and you want a productive and active class
during discussion, for you to achieve that objective is let the students involve on the subject.
This will help students to learn better when the learning process is related in real-world
problems. Students will understand when teachers provide explicit feedback designed to
reduce the gap between a student’s current and a higher level of understanding. Through
feedback it will provide them information to revise and reorganize their output. Teachers
intentions were more focused on knowledge transfer than their beliefs, and problem-solving
was associated with beliefs based on facilitating learning, but with intent based on the
transfer of knowledge. Teacher will provide a quality classroom environment in which all
students feel valued and respected by the teacher and by fellow students. And also maintain
high expectations of our students.
According to Bloom’s Taxonomy it is a classification of the different goals and competencies
that educators assign to their students (learning goals). Like other taxonomies, Bloom is
hierarchical, which means that learning at the higher levels depends on having achieved the
prior knowledge and skills at the lower levels. As a teacher the first thing that need to do is
to check the prior knowledge for you to know the capacity of the students, in which particular
aspect that the students excel. The role of the teacher is to improve and develop students’
skills, educate and teach them. It doesn’t matter if the beliefs of teaching and learning
doesn’t follow as long as you deliver a good quality of education so as a result learner
become productive and active in the society.

Interview a teacher on lesson preparation in the flexible learning and distance

learning delivery mode

Weekly Activity Sheets (WLAS) are distributed by each subject per week. There are activities
assigned per day for the learners to do for the whole week. The learners will return the activity
sheets with their answers the following week. After the retrieval another WLAS will be
distributed for the following week. Weekly Home Learning Plan prepared by the subject teacher
will be distributed together with their WLAS to serve as their guide on what activity will they
perform everyday for the whole week. A summative test and performance task will be given
every two weeks to evaluate or assess what they have learned from the WLAS given to the
learners for the weeks. Virtual Consultation to their module/WLAS will be done by teacher
according to the availability of internet connection of the learners and the teacher.

REFLECTION #3
Instructional Materials

What is Instructional Material?

Instructional Materials or Teaching Materials are defined as resources that organize

and support instruction, such as textbooks, manuals, tasks and additional resources.
This will help teachers to understand on how to clarify the goals and uses of these
materials for their own and their student’s learning. Instructional materials provide
information to students that will help them to learn and apply during the course. It also
gives an opportunity to let the students engage and motivate during discussion. This is
effective for online learning process, which gives a complete collection of instructional
materials that the students will access and explore as they proceed in the course.
During my observation, most of the teacher use an instructional material as their
alternative way to relay information to the students. The online learning experience as a
student for me has been fine. The student sometimes find themselves not interested in
doing their assignments and they feel like lazy. Students still do the assignments, but
sometimes end up turning in their assignments late. It’s like they’ll do the assignments
whenever they feel like doing it.
Sometimes students end up cramming for their lessons, because most of the time
they hang around using gadgets and playing mobile games. Most of the time modules
are just taken for granted, students don’t usually read it. They rely on cellphones and
asking questions thru internet, that’s why they have difficulty in comprehension.
RELFECTION #4

Documentation & Compilation of Class Activities

During my observation. I appreciate the effort, style and techniques on how the teacher deliver
the lessons that the students can meet their objective. In math class, the teacher discuss about
the probability sampling, They do activity like tossing a coin and getting the probability of getting
a head or a tail. This activity (the picture above) is connected to thier lesson by putting sets of
color and by that, students shoud get the probability or getting the color of what the teacher is
required to get. I observed that students get the lesson and the teacher meet the objectives
what she wants to get after the session.
REFLECTION #5

Make a Personal Reflection of Covid-19

Covid-19 brings a lot of trouble and problem. Especially To Me as a student, since I am Not
allowed to go to school. all classes is thru online. I really find it difficult because I am used on
going to school everyday, My classmate and professors & but now I am Learning to accept the
reality for my safety and also to everybody as well. I am now focusing on my subjects now, and I
have enough time to review and study my lessons and adopting my online class environment,
but I am praying that this pandemic will be over and everything will go back to normal.
