Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.

Greetings from Orange Walk DAVCO President Fidelmar Hernandez

Halfway through the summer and the heat is on. The excitement is palpable and we are continuing to work with Mr Ernesto Banner on receiving our subvention to maintain our operations. As of now, the Ministry and Mr Banner have denied our subvention because we did not comply with Liquor Licensing rules-if we had complied our office would be crippled under the new rules and we would not be able to operate as the leader in our district for Village Councils. Please contact Mr Banner-or sign our petition to tell Mr Banner that we want our subvention. Also, please check out our new blog: sugarcitydavco.blogspot.com for the most up-to date information and news on whats happening in our district. Enjoy the rest of your summer-we look forward to seeing you on July 30 for our Annual General Meeting (we will be drawing for the winner of the iPod!) Good Tidings! more on

San Jose Village Council Working Hard for their Community!

San Jose 5-a-side Tournament a huge success Learn to Read. Read to Learn! 35 American doctors held clinic at San Jose Cementry free of garbage July Summer Camp at San Jose from July 25-29
This tournament was a huge success since almost 150 youths participated for this competition. For this reason, the Sports Committee has agreed to make this tournament an annual event. Presently, the San Jose/San Pablo Community Library is holding its free annual reading program. The objective of this program is to encourage students to read more at school and once at home. Almost three hundred residents benefitted from the free clinic held by American doctors on July 5. It was a huge task to bring down a mamey tree which made the cemetery look dark and haunted at night. Now people can walk by at night without feeling afraid of the dead or living. Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to participate for the summer camp at San Jose. Camp activities include football, cultural dancing, handicraft and storytelling. Children will be provided with instructional materials, nutritious snacks and a t-shirt for the last sports day event. A fee of $5 is payable upon registration. IMPORTANT: Village Council Members please provide DAVCO Office with your correct and current contact information. Please Note: Deadline for Village Council Members to submit info for future editions of The Village Voice must submit by 2nd week of the month.
