Jamie Tworkowski, Founder of TWLOH

Jamie Tworkowski founded the nonprofit, To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOH). Initially, it
was not Jamie's goal to start a nonprofit organization. He wanted to help a friend struggling with
mental health, suicidal ideation, and addiction. Initially, Jamie shared his friend's story on
Myspace and raised money to help pay for her treatment by selling t-shirts. However, Jamie did
more than raise money for his friend's mental health treatment. The story he shared on Myspace
went viral. Thus, Jamie created the nonprofit To Write Love on Her Arms. Jamie expanded his
goal to help others find mental health resources, receive help, and pay for needed treatments. He
has spent time responding to messages from people in need with the goal of helping reduce the
challenges associated with mental illness. Jamie reached out to many communities to bring hope
and help those struggling with depression.

Before becoming the founder of To Write Love on Her Arms, Jamie aimed to work for various
brands. Eventually, Jamie worked as a sub rep for a company called Quicksilver at the young age
of 18. Then, at 22, Jamie was hired to be the sales representative for the company Hurley.
Several years later, he left this company to start his work at TWLOH.

Now, Jamie focuses on writing and speaking. He continues writing and speaking to share stories
of hope and overcoming mental health. Jamie wrote several articles and blog posts that are on the
TWLOH website. These articles highlight Jamie's journey with the nonprofit, his goals, and
future. Jamie has also shared tips and resources for getting through challenging times through his
blog posts. Additionally, Jamie has also completed two TEDx talks. He is passionate about
sharing what he has learned through his mental health journey and encouraging others.
