Discover new
opportunities
To adapt your investment thesis to changes in the market, you need
insight into where transactions are happening, which companies are
gaining traction and what other investors are doing.

With PitchBook, you can follow all pre-venture and venture activity,
as well as keep tabs on private equity firms, strategic acquirers,
mutual funds and other entities participating in venture rounds.

You can take a peek at investors’ portfolios to better understand

their strategies and where they are finding success. Plus, discover
emerging industries and evaluate how companies are performing
(based on valuations, transaction sizes and exit potential) to
determine whether or not you want to invest there.

In the increasingly competitive venture world, staying a step ahead

is more important than ever.

detailing their mandates, target and actual allocations, investment
preferences, current and past commitments, fund returns and
more. This granular information makes it easy to generate a list of

mandates.

Our research team will even contact investors to gauge their

appetite for your fund, helping you prioritise who to meet with and
maximise your time in every city you visit.

investors’ preferences and plans for growth. Compare your fund’s
performance to broader market trends with insight into all venture
activity. In addition, leverage our in-depth fund data (such as IRR,
cash flow multiples and investments) to build benchmarks that

Create custom
benchmarks
Most benchmarks are based on basic attributes (such as vintage
year, fund type, fund size and location), but they do not showcase
what truly sets your fund apart. PitchBook goes deeper—giving you
insight into more than 12,000 venture funds’ portfolio construction,
industry focus, IRR and quarterly cash flow multiples.

With our granular data, you can create your own peer group
based on the underlying factors investors care about most.
Eliminate outliers (funds that outperformed thanks to one
big exit) and benchmark your fund against funds with more
meaningful similarities. Illustrate why your fund is better than your
competition’s—and give investors a pitch they cannot refuse.

Who we are
It all started with seven people working in a 200-square-foot,
windowless office. Founder John Gabbert was pursuing an
idea his former employer nixed—a database that covered
private equity.

In 2009, we launched PitchBook Desktop. With each new

dataset and feature, we’ve expanded and improved.
Now, PitchBook tracks every aspect of the public and private
equity markets, including venture capital, private equity
and M&A.

Our focus has always been—and will always be—our clients.
