To Whom It May Concern:

I find myself both honored and proud to be writing this letter on behalf of Nicole Breen for
the SCSPA Journalist of the Year Award. Having been her math teacher for both her
sophomore and junior year at Wando High School, I can honestly say that Nicole is one of the
most dedicated, hardworking, and motivated students that I have had the pleasure of working
with.

After teaching Nicole in my Algebra 2 class her sophomore year, I was genuinely excited to
see her again on my roster for Algebra 3. As a student, Nicole stood out amongst the rest of
Wando High School her peers, showing a strong interest in math and a natural ability to solve problems. In
____________________ addition to participating on a daily basis, Nicole also asked thought-provoking questions and
sought to understand the material on a deeper level. As a person, Nicole is mature,
personable, kind, and genuine. She is always willing to help her classmates and is a natural
Donald Kennedy leader. I have really enjoyed building a relationship with Nicole over the past two years and
Superintendent of Schools
know she is destined for a bright, successful future.
Anita Huggins
Interim Deputy Superintendent of In addition to being an exemplary student, Nicole is also very involved within the school. She
Schools
is most well-known for her involvement with Wando’s Legend Yearbook, something she has
Michelle Simmons been a part of since her sophomore year. During the time that I have known Nicole, her
Interim Chief Academic Officer passion and dedication to the yearbook has been undeniable. She takes pride in her work and
is committed to her current position as the Editor-in-Chief. It goes without saying that Nicole
Kim Wilson has played a major role in Wando’s Legend Yearbook being declared the best yearbook in
Interim Principal
South Carolina two years in a row. In 2022, she was even awarded second place for the
Student Life Copy Award. I am looking forward to hearing what awards Nicole will receive
for the current edition.

On top of her yearbook responsibilities, Nicole is also part of the National Honor Society,
National Beta Club, and AP Academy. This is all a testament to the hard work Nicole has put
in over her four years here at Wando.

It is without question that Nicole is deserving of SCSPA Journalist of the Year Award as she is
truly one-of-a-kind. I am very proud of all that she has already accomplished and cannot
wait to see what her future holds.
