Oregon blackberry growers in areas of the Willamette Valley are on

edge after noting 9F (-12.7C) and 10F (-12.2C) temperatures plus
windchills for a couple mornings late last week. Canes appear to be
moving out of dormancy at this point in the season but it’s much too
early to know the damage extent and how it may have affected the
crop.

This is a perfect segway to invite growers to network about this and

other caneberry concerns at the March 10 — 15th Annual Production
Workshop for Commercial Caneberry Growers in Salem, OR.

Please RSVP by today, March 1st if you plan on coming and want to be
included in the lunch headcount. It’s free but space and food are
limited. Call 503-504-2977 or register here. Details include:
8:00-4:30 pm at the Chemeketa Community College Ag Hub
(4000 Lancaster Dr. NE, Salem, OR).
Go here and sign up for the meeting as an in-person or a virtual
attendee.
Go here for parking details: Register your vehicle. Please print at
home if possible, we will have some passes available on-site.

NCSFR ANNUAL SURVEY

To improve communications for the Northwest Center for Smalls Fruits Research (NCSFR), the
Northwest Berry Foundation is conducting an annual survey to gauge awareness about NCSFR. All
responses will be archived and referenced each year to assess if industry members are becoming
more aware of the NCSFR efforts. This survey will be recirculated annually. Please provide your honest
feedback without referring to the NCSFR website.

A $50 gift card to Ace Hardware will be provided to a random individual who submits a completed
survey by March 10th, 2023.
