Think of a recent conflict situation you experienced at work.

o What conflict style did you engage in?

o What style did the other party engage in?

o What might you do differently next time you face a similar interpersonal challenge, and
why?

If you saw my professional background during self-introduction at the beginning of this course I’m a
manager in Hospitality Company and recently got a problem on an IT project and the IT company is sub-
leased the contract from the main contractor, and one technician was constantly late finishing the tasks.
When I approached him about it, he reacted defensively. I kept calm and acknowledged that the
deadlines were challenging and asked how I could assist him in improving his performance. He calmed
down and told me that he was involved in another project where he had to do tasks that were not in his
job description. After a meeting with the other main contractor, we came to a resolution that alleviated
the technician’s workload. For the remainder of the project, the technician delivered great work.
