2) ‘presents a clear position throughout the response’
Band Descriptors Tip: When writing an essay, keep checking the question.
Revisited Check the question before & after each paragraph.

Ask yourself – ‘Am I sticking to the question? Am I

answering all parts of the question?’

Remember, for Coherence & Cohesion:

1) ‘logically organises information and ideas; there is clear

progression throughout’
2) ‘uses a range of cohesive devices appropriately
although there may be some under-/over-use’
3) ‘presents a clear central topic within each paragraph’
