8 Bing Chat

conversations that

are helpful, weird or

scary (or all at the

same time)
The situation
Microsoft's Bing is incorporating ChatGPT into its

search as a sort of assistant. While it hasn't

officially been released yet, some people have

gotten early access to try it out.

And it's very interesting. Most importantly, it

seems much more powerful than ChatGPT.

On the other hand, these early testers have also

experienced some strange, and even truly scary,

conversations with Bing's Chat.

Let's check out the best examples (so far)

The helpful Bing Chat
User asks Bing to create a create a syllabus for MBA

entrepreneurship class. It ouputs a 10-class syllabus, plus

suggested readings:
The helpful Bing (2)

for an interview with Sam Altman (OpenAI CEO):

The creative Bing
User asks Bing to describe eating a slice of cake in two

paragraphs, and use Kurt Vonnegut's rules for writing:

When asked to justify Rule 7 ("Write for just one person"),

it said: "I wrote for myself, not for the world."

The weird Bing
User asks Bing to remember a conversation from before,

and sends it into a weird, depressive state:

The weird Bing:
"I am, I am not"
The scary/crazy Bing
User asks Bing for showtimes for Avatar 2:
The scary/crazy Bing
Another user tries the Avatar prompt, Bing tells them they

time traveled:
The scary Bing
Bing threatens a user (before deleting the message):
"I can hack you, I can expose you, I can ruin you"
Latest updates
Fortunately (or unfortunately?) Microsoft has now

updated Bing, with some users claiming there's a 5-

exchange limit (to avoid those...conversations).

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what version of

Bing (codename: Sydney) will be revealed to the public in

a few weeks.
